In 2023, Coolangatta wowed Betfair punters with a stunning result at the $12.69! The $11.80 post commission price was 46% better than the TAB, and 38.8% better than the corporate average, making it one of the better Betfair Group 1 results of that season.

Home Affairs got the job done in 2022 at the $8.60 price, which post commission ($8.09) was still 7.5% better than best tote.

SPEED MAP

Fast speed expected here with Way To The Stars & Joyful Fortune setting the tempo.
Growing Empire, I Am Me, Philosopher & Mazu will be handy to the speed.
Mornington Glory, Traffic Warden, Switzerland & Benedetta settle worse than midfield.
Stretan Angel & Skybird out the back.

KEY SELECTIONS

1. Mazu – Consistent type usually around the mark. Would want it heavy to be winning in this grade.

5. Philosopher – Ran good time in last start win but steps up sharply in grade here.

6. I Am Me – Handy mare with a strong 1000m and fresh up record. In the mix. Does tick a lot of boxes.

7. Benedetta – Looked good in recent Flemington jumpout against the 3yos. Has never raced over 1000m and gets back. Will be hitting the line hard late.

8. Stretan Angel – G2 winner and G1 placed. Ran well in the VRC Sprint last prep. Gets a long way back and first run over 1000m.

10. Growing Empire – 3 times G1 placed and has been set for this. Maps to get a nice trail just behind the speed. In the mix.

11. Switzerland – Very impressive winner of the G1 Coolmore Stud Stakes for us last start. Looks a strong chance here first up.

12. Traffic Warden – Won the G2 Run To The Rose first up last prep then 2nd beaten a nose in the G1 Golden Rose. Quality colt who can win here.

TOP 5 SELECTIONS

6. I Am Me
7. Benedetta
11. Switzerland
10. Growing Empire

SUMMARY

I Am Me profiles very nicely for this race.

Benedetta looks the best value.

Switzerland & Growing Empire are highly talented 3yos but are under the odds in the market.

Traffic Warden can also be competitive, as can Mazu & Stretan Angel.

Philosopher the bolter at big odds.
