BACK: 3. Just Feelin’ Lucky (WIN) for 2 units (Rated at $2.10)

JUST FEELIN’ LUCKY has had a strong prep so far with a first up win as well as a solid outing last time for 2nd when going around at this track for the first time. She will drop slightly in grade here today after that run and looks well suited in this race. She is drawn much better here today so gets the right run and really only has to handle the heavy conditions and she will be the one to beat.

MASTER OF THE AIR resumes for a 2nd prep here after we saw him debut back in February. His recent trial suggested that he could come back here as an improved product, but not ideally drawn in the wide barrier which is the query on him. CHANGE MY ADDRESS & MARINERA look the best of the runners that are here on debut out of the trials. Both from good stables and wouldn’t surprise. JET can race up on speed and be in a strong position for a young horse.

BACK: 1. Mansiere (WIN) for 1 unit (Rated at $5.00)

Victorian visitor MANSIERE looks as if he has come up further north in the search of a wet track and has certainly found a wet track here. He has a super record on heavy tracks (4:2-1-0) and he has produced 2 of his 3 career highest rated runs on heavy tracks. So he is ideally suited on the wet and is fitter now 2nd up after a solid 1st up run for 2nd where the winner has subsequently gone on to win her next start at group level. He gets every chance in a race that should give him the right conditions.

Betting Strategy

JUNEBUG maps to be in the right position and leading here which should suit. She has won on wet tracks previously and should handle the going here so now gets every chance to improve again. UP AND UNDER is 3rd up into the prep now and looks perfectly suited to rising up in trip. BLACK RUN could also be an improver 3rd up and rising in distance having made his Australian debut recently and KNIGHTS ARMOUR comes to town to contest some stronger metro grade races but has been going well enough to suggest he could be every chance.

BACK: 3. Struck Gold (WIN) for 1 unit (Rated at $5.00)

STRUCK GOLD generally does his best work when on wet tracks so getting on the heavy here today looks as if it is going to be ideal for him. He is 3rd up and fitter now but the key is getting onto conditions that he should thrive on, looks worth a value play given this set up.

LAY: 5. Apex (WIN) for 2 units (Rated at $4.00)

Do expect that APEX could be an improver here today off his 1st up performance. But feel as if he is quite short in this market currently at the below even money price. He is relatively unproven on wet tracks so may not be suited on a genuinely heavy track which is the query at his price. Needs to take a step up in level here in conditions that perhaps may not suit.

Betting Strategy

NAVAL COMMISSION is perhaps going to be best suited on the heavy track given his impressive figures on heavy tracks (5:3-1-0). Drawn well and gets the right map with Jmac aboard. SOUNDS UNUSUAL was solid when resuming here at this track. The wide barrier is a small knock but watching the winning lanes in the straight as if runners are coming wide, perhaps it may be more of a blessing. GOOD PRIZE is hard to knock on his recent form boasting 3 wins on the trot and looking for his 4th in a row now. DARK ARTS broke through for his maiden victory last start on a heavy track so may be able to improve for this.

Betting Strategy

MISSILE SEEKER needs to take a step up in grade for this but gets his chance to do so on a wet track and remaining at the 1300m trip where he has had good previous success. PIGGYBACK wouldn’t surprise at odds in this given his good record in these conditions and when 1st up into preps. LITTLE COINTREAU rates well here dropping slightly in grade with this set up while LLANDDWYN isn’t generally far away and wouldn’t surprise
