No bet race kicking off todays meeting. Thought it was quite an open maiden, and a bit potentially depends on how this track is playing from a race map perspective. VIKTOR will be out in front which may give him a small advantage, but not confident enough to be betting.

Favourite EXTREMELY HARDYS looked a potential bet in a race like this, but she is faced with a tricky race map from the wide barrier. If others get a better run it could make for a tough run. Leant towards AMELITA who has race fitness and a better race map, but not betting into this one.

LAY: 8. Koning (WIN) for 1 unit (Rated at $6.50)

Open staying race here. KONING has been well backed into being race favourite but I am willing to look around him here. He does map for a sweet run, but others like ANGEL OF LIGHT do map to be up on the speed with him and given he wasn’t necessarily strong through the line last time, feel that if he does get made to work early he could be vulnerable late.

Betting Strategy

Didn’t have a lot splitting pair of runners POPPIN’ CHAMPAGNE and MOUNTAIN TOP in a race like this. They ran 2nd and 3rd together in the same race last time out. A few changes like weights and maps could potentially flip the result, POPPIN’ CHAMPAGNE looks the better value of the 2 given how little splits them but its not a bet race.

Low confidence betting race here. TRUE TO FORM Has had some good early support and is having a super prep including 2 wins from 3 starts. He is a runner that doesn’t really look to appreciate a wet track, so would want to have a firm look at how this track is playing prior to having a bet. Prefer to sit this race out with those unknowns around the track.

BACK: 2. Bonita Queen (WIN) for 4 units (Rated at $2.00)

BONITA QUEEN has been going super in recent races. She has won her last 2 starts, both over this same track and distance and both by reasonable margins as a short price favourite. She maps super again here today, and comes into the race fresh off a winning trial. She looks hard to beat again with this race set up today.

Betting Strategy

BACK: 2. I Am Unstoppable (WIN) for 3 units (Rated at $2.30)

I AM UNSTOPPABLE makes his debut for a new stable here today after having good success in his last stable including a Group 1 2nd placing. His trials have been good leading into this and he has previously performed well 1st up so can perform well here fresh. The race map is interesting as he will be back in the field, but you should be able to make up ground and this race does look stacked with early speed which should set him up well.

Betting Strategy

Very open betting race to close out todays meeting. Have gone with SWEYSIVE as the on top selection for the race. He has run 3x 2nd placings in a row now and doesn’t appear far away from a win so a slight drop in grade today could suit. Others in the race do make a strong cases also, so would perhaps be interested in a value play on SWEYSIVE if we were getting the Each-way price, so monitoring markets and not betting at this stage.
