Betting Strategy

Competitive 2YO race kicks off todays program here. CHICAMA has trialed strongly in the lead up to this race and the only time we have seen him at the races was in a stronger level than this, so he looks well suited resuming in this. GRAND EAGLE has been solid in 2 runs to date, he has drawn well here and will likely get a positive run on speed. TELLING did enough to win last start at short odds and is another runner who maps strongly, if he improves off the last start he goes close and SYLPH looks the best of the runners on debut after a strong set of trials.

Betting Strategy

USEAPIN looks some value in this race given her recent good form and the fact she is dropping in grade. She gets in well at the weights and 3rd up now and fitter, gets a good chance off her recent form. COUPLES RETREAT resumes off a trial win at WARWICK FARM, he maps as the likely race leader here and with a soft run may take catching. NOW IS THE HOUR has been well in the market in his last 2 runs, this race doesn’t appear hugely harder and he is drawn well and looks prominent. TRIPLE TEMPO resumed a winner at ORANGE, she needs to take the next step up in grade but has begun to string together a good record and might be capable of doing so.

Betting Strategy

Tough betting race, the race doesn’t appear to have a huge amount of runners with stand out early speed which could see VIKTOR get run of the race here fitter 3rd up rising to this trip now, if he gets a soft run out in front it gives him a big chance. . FULL HAO could be an improver 2nd up now and better for her debut run, she is drawn to the inside which may help her chances. EXISTENTIAL BOB resumed with a recent playing in a close finish race at Wyong. He looked close to a win at the back of last prep and with another closing here he doesn’t look far from a win. DARK ARTS could be an improver fitter and 3rd up now.

Betting Strategy

Was keen to find CAMPALDINO as a bet in the race, as he looks close to a breakthrough after his 2 runs this prep, but the wider barrier is enough of a concern to hold me back from wanting to bet into the race, he has plenty of time to cross down the back straight, but this race does have a lot of speed in it which may keep him out wide. FLYING BANDIT was impressive when resuming, he rises in trip 2nd up and looks the runner who will be able to run on as long as he doesn’t get caught on the rails at the back of the field. I AM THE EMPIRE defeated CAMPALDINO when resuming and is a big price for a winner with that form line, it wouldn’t shock to see him win again now. IT’S A WONDER has gone close in his last few starts, rising in trip for this looks suitable.

Betting Strategy

Don’t have a huge amount between BEAR ON THE LOOSE & SAGANTI in this race. The pair did meet at the end of last prep with SAGANTI getting the better, but BEAR ON THE LOOSE looks to have a bit more in his favour here including a good race map in the small field and he has previously been a strong performer 1st up into a prep. SAGANTI may get his chance though if he can find improvement for his first full prep in Australia now. STATE OF AMERICA ran a close 3rd in his last start and this race doesn’t appear too harder, watch for his form to be franked in the previous race with I AM THE EMPIRE & CAMPALDINO. ALMANIA looks the value play of the race. He was only 2.4L behind The Sydney Cup favourite ALALCANCE last start which is looking like a strong form line.

LAY: 1. Written In Code (WIN) for 1 unit (Rated at $6.50)

WRITTEN IN CODE was very impressive when winning 1st up at Randwick. She rises slightly in grade now off that run but the query I have in the race is her race map. Drawn to the inside and she typically gets back in the run which may leave her shuffled back on the rails and needing luck late. She likely gives head starts to the likes of MIDNIGHT DYNAMITE & SYDNEY BOWLER which may make her job even harder. Happy to be against her with her currently sitting as the race favourite.

BACK: 1. Lonhro’s Queen (WIN) for 3 units (Rated at $2.30)

Couldn’t have been any more impressed by what LONHRO’S QUEEN produced when she won first up at Scone on a heavy track. Even more impressively she ran on strongly to win for a position back in the field. If she can take any improvement out of that first up run she should again prove hard to hold out of this race.

BACK: 6. Debello (WIN & PLACE) for 1 unit (Rated at $5.50)

This is somewhat a throw at the stumps given the price DEBELLO is and the wide barrier he will have to over come. But he has found good form winning in his last 2 starts and his last start win coming at this track. His recent form rates high enough to handle to rise in grade here as long as he can overcome the wide barrier, but worth the small play at this value to find out.

BACK: 6. Debello (PLACE) for 1 unit
