Leaning the way of race experience in this, PILLOW FIGHT was a good winner on debut before competing at a stronger level through the Queensland carnival. He maps well and if he can hold form he should go close in this level. CROSSBOW was handy last time behind a talented type, if he can produce a similar rating he should be around the mark again. TOMATO TAOSTIE is coming off a last start win, and should be suited on a wet track if there is any rain around. TAMBELOA ran well on debut and any improvement could see him go close at odds.

This is a tough betting Highway Grade race for this week. PREMISE has been fair in some stronger rated races in her last few starts, she rates highly but may need luck from a wide barrier. VERMICELLA was solid 1st up and will be fitter 2nd up and suited rising in trip. KRANICH deserves to compete in a stronger level race like this having won 3 of his last 4 races, he maps well up on speed so should be in it for a long way. IN SUMMER is another runner suited 2nd up and rising in trip, if she can overcome the wider barrier she should be around the mark.

CALLISTEMON has found super form this prep including a last start win. She is the one to beat in this again and if she can settle in a similar position to where she did last start she could be hard to beat again. HASTY HONEY was an impressive winner last start in a similar level race to this, the wider barrier is the risk so he may need luck but if he overcomes that expect he can feature again. AIX EN PROVENCE was close to the favourite in their last start and any rain around will suit him and could bring him on. VETWELVE needs to take a step up but did impress last time out, he has a light weight in this so wouldn’t surprise with the right run.

Tricky betting race here, the race map lacks much early speed which has the potential to make the run tough for a few of these. BRIGHT RED could get the advantage from an inside barrier if the race isn’t run at much of a tempo. PIGGYBACK & FEDERER come out of some good form reference races and deserve to be at the top of the market but they are a pair that may get caught out the back with the slow tempo which feels a risk. MISTERKIPCHOGE was a surprise winner last start and he may now be able to go on from that with some confidence.

PIPPIE BEACH looks well suited here with a light weight on her back. She gets a good race map as well so feeling she can be strong through the run here in a race that sets up to have plenty of speed. ZAPHOD was well supported last start in a race that was very similar to this, he maps to get away from the inside lanes which may be ideal late. RISE TO IT looks one of the key speed influences of the race with a light weight and the fact he has a wide barrier may give him no choice but to push forwards. SALT LAKE CITY comes out of the same form reference as ZAPHOD which should prove to rate well for this race as well.

After his last start, it does look like they may have found the key to unlocking GETAFIX. He was a dynamic winner when making a big run late and rating highly. There is speed in this race, so if they put a quick tempo up. GETAFIX may be in the ideal position in run. If he can hold his form from the last start run he should prove hard to hold out.

CHANGING COLOURS finally got a breakthrough last start with a win after running 2nd 3 starts in a row. She is in form and could go on with it now, the wet track is a small question but she is in strong form. LADY BOSS may need luck from a wide barrier, but she is light at the weights and has speed, so she can cross them and be prominent. LIBERTY STATE is 3rd up and rising to the 1400m which could set her up well for this and VERY SEWREEL makes her debut for a new stable, she can get along out in front and put a good tempo into the race which might put pressure on the others.

History
The site was first designated for use as a racecourse in January 1883, with a private raceday held there six months later. For 20 years between 1840 and 1860, the racecourse was only used as a training facility but racing resumed in May 1860 with a crowd of more than 6,000 in attendance. The ATC assumed control of Randwick in 2011, when the Australian Jockey Club and the Sydney Turf Club merged to form a new body.

- Randwick was given royal status in 1992, when Queen Elizabeth II paid a visit to officially open the Paddock Stand.
