PRICE ADVANTAGE HISTORY
Riff Rocket dominated as favourite in 2024, with a $2.51 BSP that was on parity with the corporate average.
Lindermann’s 2023 victory at $7.81 was 8.6% better across the board.
Anamoe blitzed them in 2022 at the $1.59.
SPEED MAPÂ
There doesn’t look an abundance of speed on paper with the most likely leader #9 MAJORCA SUNSET after he settled on speed at his first go out to the 1600 last time out. #2 GOLDRUSH GURU has early speed and suggest Jamie Melham will want him close to the leaders as he was in his VRC Derby win. Suggest J Mac slides forward and tries to find a position on #1 BROADSIDING. #11 AELIANA settles closer from the inside gate. Speed looks average at best on paper.
ROSEHILL GUINEAS | RACE PREVIEW
Many expected #1 BROADSIDING to simply turn up and win last start in the Randwick Guineas, but he couldn’t run down Linebacker after appearing to have every chance. He was very good winning the Hobartville 1st up and gets back to a Rosehill track he has a great record on. His only 2000m run was his 3rd place effort in the Cox Plate which is clearly supreme form for this event. With the moderate tempo expected, he should be able to settle close enough to be within striking distance turning. He is the favourite here at $2.30 but there are certainly enough doubts/dangers to think that looks on the short side.
#3 SWIFTFALCON has chased Broadsiding home in both of his runs this prep and he looks to be going superbly. He’s been giving them a start over the 1400/1600 but up to 2000 looks perfect for him and he must be a massive chance to turn the tables on the favourite. He disappointed out to 2000m last prep in the Spring Champion, but he was given a mountain of work to do on that occasion and we think he has come back a better horse.
#11 AELIANA comes through the same lead ups and gets the 2kg weight allowance as a filly contesting this. Both of her runs this time in have been great and thought she looked to just be warming into it late on their heels in the Randwick Guineas. She draws 1 and will no doubt settle right behind the speed out to the 2000. The way she went last time told us that she is ready for the 2000 and being by Castelvecchio, we may see her go to a new level at her first go at this distance.
#2 GOLDRUSH GURU, the VRC Derby winner, comes through the Victorian lead up races. He looked gone in the C S Hayes but picked up again and was strong through the line before a very good run in the Australian Guineas. He was again left flat-footed when they sprinted, but his last 100m was excellent and he seems to be going particularly well this time in. Out to the 2000 4th up with what looks a prefect map and Jamie Melham to ride are all in his favour. First time Sydney way is the unknown.
