MURRAY BRIDGE PREVIEW AND TIPS | EXPERT TIPS | SATURDAY OCTOBER 11TH 2025

RAIL: True  TRACK: Good 4

Murray Bridge Gold Cup Day

1. Virtual Illusion
2. Golden Horizon
5. Fine Ace
3. Snallygaster

Betting Strategy

No bet to start the race but a handy little juvenile event nonetheless. Virtual Illusion was well backed late and came with a powerful run down the outside to score impressively by a couple of key rivals. Isn’t dealt harshly at the weights with the mart 3kg claim for Caitlin Munro and draws to settle closer. Hard to beat again. Golden Horizon is coming back from a spell and didn’t step a foot wrong in the first campaign with a debut win and a narrow 2nd at BM64 level. Tuned up for this with a very strong trial win in slick time. Looks the danger. Fine Ace did enough on debut behind Virtual Illusion for a close up 4th. Should take benefit from that and Jade Doyle is riding well in town of late. Snallygaster is the debut runner here but has looked smart at the trials and jump outs. The Jolly camp always present them well for the debut run.

1. Blandford Baron
5. Inhabit
4. East Indies
3. Vandaross

Betting Strategy

Blandford Barn is clearly the fastest Murray Bridge 800m trial performer leading into this with a slick win on the 18th of September. Caitlin Tootell sticks the ride from the trial and if the horse can bring it race day, would be very hard to beat. Inhabit was another good 800m trial winner leading into this. Always respect the Michael Hickmott horses on debut, especially with the key booking of Michael Hickmott. East Indies comes across from the Michael Shepherson yard and he is very smart at placing his horses across the border here. Perhaps watch markets. Vandaross showed enough at the trials for the debut run and looks best of the rest.

4. Dark N Confidential
6. Lomax
2. Arugamama
1. Test The Law

Betting Strategy

BACK: 4. Dark N Confidential (WIN) for 3 units

Dark N Confidential is flying this prep and has pieced together a couple of handy wins the past two including a gritty victory last week over the 1800m. The extra trip suits once again, Jason Holder a good booking and drops significantly in weight. Can make it a hattrick. Lomax was really good two back then had minor excuses last time out when got too far back. He has good form around Dark N Confidential and now gets the services of Craig Newitt from gate 1. They have tinkered with gear here. Arugamama is probably the best performed horse in the race but is just struggling to recapture some of the early stuff. Ran pretty well in a Benella Cup last start. She draws well here and is fitter for two runs back. Goes best over this distance. Test The Law was OK in the Balaklava Cup then followed it up with a decent run in the Colraine Cup. Draws well and is a winner over this track/distance. Seyers camp on fire.

3. Prairie Flower
1. Fancify
4. Chicago Storm
2. Press Down

Betting Strategy

BACK: 3. Prairie Flower (WIN) for 2 units

Few of these reunite from their clash in the the Listed Wylie Stakes taken out by Watchme Win. Prairie Flower bungled the start in that race and was forced to go back to last. Really knuckled down late when it was all over for 2.6L 5th. Is 1/1 at the track and now meets Fancify 2kg better off at the weights. Fancify was excellent fresh in the Wylie when raced on speed and was only collared near the post by Watchme Win. 2nd up form is very good and is 2/2 at the track and distance. The one to beat. Chicago Storm generally needs the hit out fresh in these sprinting events and best work is over a touch further but did trial well leading into this. Draws well and distance stats still really strong. Press Down raced on speed and was OK for 6th in the Wylie stakes, Fitter, 2nd up form good and loves racing at the Parks track. Clearly good enough to win the race

9. My Haruconi
6. Misludi
4. Truly Elsa
10. My Zephyr

Betting Strategy

BACK: 9. My Haruconi (WIN & PLACE) for 1 unit

Thought My Haruconi represented some value here. Coming off a poor run down in the South East but was stuck 4 wide the trip and knocked up late. Given a freshen up for this and while it’s back up to metro grade there are no world beaters in this. Is a 2x winner at the Parks track. Misludi returns from a break and has a brilliant first up record.Tuned up for this really nicely with a very good trial behind a stakes horse in Chicago Storm. Likley to be speed on here and can come charging over the top of them late. Truly Elsa returns from a failed prep last time in. The mare is tuned up for this with a slick trial win at this track. She grows a leg here. Will be hard to run down. Blinkers on fresh. My Zephyr comes across from the astute Michael Shepherson yard. Didn’t do much in some strong races last prep but given time off and did look good winning a recent trial.

1. Riche Damour
9. Streetcar Fury
11. Capitalex
7. Give Some Lip

Betting Strategy

BACK: 1. Riche Damour (WIN & PLACE) for 2 units

Riche Damour is coming off a 7 week let up and a luckless run at Sandown when got too far back after finding trouble but rocketed home with easily the fastest last 600m splits for 3.4L 9th. Goes great here at the Parks track and is a noted weight carrier. Craig Newitt a bonus. Streetcar Fury is itching closer to a win after a couple of narrow 4ths and 2nds when started favourite in the market. Is 1/1 at the track and Pannell sticks. Sure to be in the finish again. Capitalex was a dominant winner at this track last start in mid-week company. Steps up to metro grade but looks up to it and clearly proven at this track/distance. Give Some Lip returns from a break here and fresh form is solid enough. Hasn’t won in a while but best is good enough

6. Collated
5. Bad Detective
12. Cockatoo Rose
7. Extra Hot

Betting Strategy

No bet race. Very open and at the time of writing some of these are duel accepted at Morphettville Parks friday. Thought Collated did a good enough job fresh for a close up 1.7L 5ath at Morphettville. He’ll be fitter for that, draws well and 2nd up form is strong. Bad Detective is forever in the market and likes to lead but keeps finding a couple better. Drops in grade, draws well and they have tinkered with gear. Will give a sight. Stable flying. Cockatoo Rose gets another chance in town here after a narrow 2nd at Strath last time out. She doesn’t know how to run a bad race and should be swooping late after settling back from the poor draw. Extra Hot is forever around the mark in these events. Prefers the sting out but last two runs on Good tracks have been excellent

9. Cartoon Graveyard
5. Watadeel
2. Sav On Ice
3. Sir Kingsford

Betting Strategy

BACK: 9. Cartoon Graveyard (WIN & PLACE) for 2 units

Cartoon Graveyard has got the hoof on the till with two very nice runs closing hard over the 1400m the past two. Now steps up to the correct trip of 1600m. Drops significantly in weight and draws to do nothing from gate 1. If Kayla Crowther can settle close and not get too far back then this horse should be able to produce the goods in the straight. Watadeel ran 2nd to Sav On Ice in the Balaklava Cup then the writing was on the wall last start with a dominant win. Meets Sav On Ice better at the weights here and thinking it can turn the tables. If this track was soft/heavy you would empty your wallet on Sav On Ice. He’s still a raw talent but susceptible on firm tracks. Ability should carry him a long way in this and a win wouldn’t shock. Sir Kingsford gave a sight in the Balaklava Cup fresh but condition gave out late. Strips fitter for it and has a great record 2nd up. Will give them something to chase

8. Hard Prince
4. Surprise Coming
2. Dual Pressure
7. Party Crasher

Betting Strategy

BACK: 8. Hard Prince (WIN & PLACE) for 1 unit

Great race and very even but good luck figuring this out. Hard Prince was unwanted in the bettin fresh but was noticed doing some good things through the line over the 1200m. Ran the fastest late splits and was past all the horses 100m past the post. Thats a great indication that the horse wants further. Extra tri suits. Wide gate but Caitlin Jones is good at navigating wide barriers. Knockout in the last at a monster price! Was pretty keen first up on Surprise Coming and the horse did loom to win but last 75m the condition gave out but still managed 0.8L 5th. Drops in grade and 2nd up form is very strong. Claim helps the cause. Dual Pressure is fitter for two runs back and worked home really nicely last start for a close up 4th over the 1250m trip. 1400m suits now and Jason Holder sticks. Looks ready to fire 3rd up. Party Crasher was one of the favourites in a G1 Queensland Derby before being scratched due to an issue. Given time off and while the horse is no doubt looking for further, he may have enough ability to get home close here. Never missed the quinella in 5 career runs and placed only start fresh.
