BACK: Murray to defeat Shapovalov (1 unit recorded at $2.30)

ATP Dubai – Murray vs Shapovalov

Although this is likely to be a bit of a difficult match to watch, the odds present some value on the side of Andy Murray as the underdog. In this instance, I am not sure I have seen enough from Denis Shapovalov in his comeback from injury to justify him as the favourite here. We saw some signs of improvement from Murray last week, and the form around a tight loss to Mensik holds up as some pretty decent form out of the week. Not a massive play, but Murray should be closer to evens here.

ATP Dubai – Bublik vs Machac

I’ve been impressed with the level of Machac to start 2024, as it looks as though the Czech is starting to deliver more consistently in line with his potential. In years gone by, Machac would likely have fallen in the final round of qualifying after losing a close first set to Bautista Agut, yet he prevailed and progressed to the main draw. Machac has all the tools to make life a little frustrating for Bublik, who remains at his inconsistent best. Happy to take Machac at the moneyline.

WTA Austin – Wang vs Bronzetti

There looks to be enough value in the moneyline price here for Wang. Her tennis dating back to June is certainly solid, and her ITF form in the US last year allows me to be a little more confident with regards to her ability to manage the conditions. She should be well rested coming into this one, whereas Bronzetti has been playing weekly since the Australian Open, and is transitioning from Dubai back to the US.

WTA San Diego – Boulter vs Tsurenko

Boulter is another player I have been impressed with in recent months, and coming up against a player with the style of Tsurenko looks to be a decent match-up for the Brit. Tsurenko has struggled again at times with form and injury, and although her best is certainly capable, I just haven’t seen it consistently enough to be excited by her odds in this match-up.
