ALBION PARK PREVIEW AND TIPS | EXPERT TIPS | SATURDAY JULY 13TH 2024

RAIL: Standard | TRACK: Standard

Night 3 of the Constellations Carnival.

Feature races include the South East Oaks & Derby, Mr Feelgood, The Great Square and The Rising Sun.

Bout 3 of the heavyweight clash – LEAP TO FAME vs SWAYZEE will be worth the price of admission alone.

BACK: 12. Air Express (WIN) for 3 units (Rated at $4.00)

Air Express is a progressive Sweet Lou gelding in the Team Dixon barn [he would not have been out of place in the Derby tonight]. ODM after getting the start completely wrong at Redcliffe, so just forgive that performance. The racing pattern of Air Express is versatile, but coming with one run off a hot tempo might be his best set up.

BACK: 11. Leap To Fame (WIN) for 4 units (Rated at $1.60)

MR FEELGOOD OPEN:

Round 3 of Battle Of The Brothers – Leap To Fame vs Swayzee.

The current score card is 1-1 but strongly lean to the younger brother taking the lead after tonight.

Leap To Fame just marches on with his sustained level of pacing excellence. His 1.52 flat victory in The Rising Sun on this night last year was breath taking, expecting another big performance. Tactically suspect he will be breezing no later than 1200m from home.

LAY: 2. Aardies Express (WIN) for 2 units (Rated at $1.80)

FLEUR DE LIL LADYSHIP STAKES:

Taking on the boom NZ mare Aardies Express, now in the Grimson barn tonight for only one reason – the potential map. Nothing to date in her profile shows she will just hold up with ease, as you would like from a short-priced favourite drawn barrier 1.

Now there is every chance Cam Hart may work clear and prove too good but it feels there is some significant risk with speedster Manhattan, Girl From Rosedale and My Moonlite Dream drawn the front line.

RACE 2 | TOP 4 SELECTIONS

5. Eye Keep Smiling
1. Millwood Bliss
6. I Break The Line
8. Van Basten

The Rising Sun Consolation:

Half a dozen of these runners would not have been out of place in the main event, especially the 3 runners at the head of the market – Millwood Bliss, Eye Keep Smiling and I Break The Line.

Have defaulted to marking Eye Keep Smiling on top but have huge respect for the 3YO filly Millwood Bliss. Eye Keep Smiling is somewhat of a middle trip beast with the record of 5: 4-1-0. If able to bully to the front at some point, she looks hard to beat.

Millwood Bliss is such a lovely filly, with the career record of 12: 8-1-2 plus the added weapon of great gate speed to her name. From barrier 1 she has to be a major player. Next stop will be the QLD Oaks to bump into Very Pretty, Lux Aeterna & co.

I Break The Line is the Golden Guitar winner and a progressive type. He has not put a foot wrong all prep. Cam Hart takes the reins tonight. Expect him to ping out and have a bite for the top.

RACE 3 | TOP 4 SELECTIONS

11. The Janitor
9. Major Hot
7. Minos
5. Iron Clad

SOUTH EAST DERBY:

Looks a pretty even Derby at first glance.

The Janitor is a raw talent trained by Chantal Turpin who can do plenty wrong but there is no denying his upside. He reminds me of Blacksadance at the same stage of his career. The 5 weeks between runs is a negative but a sharp recent trial should have him close to the mark. Looking forward to seeing over the longer trip in the QLD Derby.

Major Hot is a Kiwi with a natural sit sprint pattern. Drawing two the second row should suit perfectly. He can round them up if the tempo is too hot.

Minos is a little NSW trained Bettors Delight gelding for the Morris camp. Always gives his best and loves to race on pace, warming to the fact he may get control and take no end of beating.

RACE 4 | TOP 4 SELECTIONS

7. Aardie B Miki
11. Rylee Rhayne Bow
10. Ever Art
1. Majorita Jujon

SOUTH EAST OAKS:

Aardie B Miki created a big impression with her 1.53 trial at Redcliffe and then lost no admirers with her Redcliffe Oaks performance – coming from last to be beaten 3.6m. With the uber strong Turpin hand in this race, she looks the runner to beat, especially if able to roll to the top leader Peter style. The early fixed price looks rock bottom, a drift closer to blacks is needed to be entertained as a bet.

Ever Art is another that has to be respected. The Redcliffle Oaks winner who has never missed top 2 in her 7 start career. Will Rixon takes the drive for trainer David Thorn – a super combination to say the least.

BACK: 11. Rylee Rhayne Bow (PLACE) for 2 units (Rated at $3.00)

Stablemate Rhylee Rhayne Bow is a smart type in her own right. If able to get a decent 3 wide cart into the race she can be featuring in the finish.

RACE 5 | TOP 4 SELECTIONS

5. Mr Mclaren
9. Last Tango In Heaven
1. Nicks Pick
8. Cardlesfromheaven

THE GREAT SQUARE:

Such a shame Bet N Win has been scratched due to a foot abscess, it has robbed the race of being something special.

All roads now seem to lead to London To A Brick defending his title, however barrier 7 is no luxury. Expect him to float out early and then work forward into the race at the right time, tactics may have been to stay in front of Bet N Win before the scratching but now they perhaps have the luxury of letting the dust settle early then making the move.

The Locomotive has switched to the Brad Hewitt team and trialed well against the Pacers recently, he is a smart customer when right.

Rockinwithattitude needs no introduction, she will make a bold bid for victory once again after leading this race as a 3YO filly last year.

Betting Strategy

No Bet.

RACE 6 | TOP 4 SELECTIONS

11. Leap To Fame
1. Swayzee
9. Fire Fox
2. Hot And Treacherous

Swayzee is 3 weeks between runs after being touched off late by stablemate Nerano and also pulling a touch crook. He will be looking to bounce back strongly. Barrier 1 hurts his winning chances as he is also not blessed with top end gate speed. Cam Hart may be able to work clear inside the first 400m and take control, but there is some risk regardless.

Fire Fox is flying and can run top three.

Betting Strategy

BACK: 11. Leap To Fame (WIN) for 4 units (Rated at $1.60)

MR FEELGOOD OPEN:

RACE 7 | TOP 4 SELECTIONS

9. Tay Tay
6. My Moonlite Dream
3. Manhattan
2. Aardies Express

Tay Tay on top here, the stablemate to Aardies Express. Back to her best and was a moral beat last week.

LAY: 2. Aardies Express (WIN) for 2 units (Rated at $1.80)

RACE 8 | TOP 4 SELECTIONS

5. Frankie Ferocious
8. Blazing Home
1. Lux Aeterna
6. Rocknroll Hammer

THE RISING SUN:

Thought this race was going to come up much stronger but it has fallen away sharply with the likes of Merlin, Sure Thing Captain, The Lost Storm and Perfect Class missing.

If you were to assess this race 7 days ago, the answer who to have as first pick would have been easy – Frankie Ferocious. His failure last week now throws the doors wide open. In early markets he has come up around the $2 mark, off the poor run and also never winning over the middle trip this price is rock bottom.

Hardest race of the night so nearly a field job for the Quaddie.

RACE 9 | TOP 4 SELECTIONS

APG FINAL:

Hunger Strike and Pats Boys look set to dominate, clearly lean to Hunger Strike from barrier 1.
