MORPHETTVILLE PREVIEW AND TIPS | EXPERT TIPS | SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 27TH 2025
RAIL: +7m 1000m to WP, +5m Remainder. Sectional 609 metres TRACK: Good 4Â
Parks track (inner)
3. Watadeel
2. Pudding
1. Goldrush Guru
5. Beautiful Jewel
Betting Strategy
Watadeel and Pudding are both coming out of the Balakava Cup respectively where they finished 2nd and 3rd and both had very similar runs in transit but were no match for the talented Sav On Ice. Just leaning towards Watadeel with the 1kg less but either winning wouldn’t shock. Goldrush Guru is the class runner of the race and boast a Group 1 Vic Derby win to the resume’ . Was OK in a Listed sprint first up but that was clearly a trial run. This is extra trip suits and 2nd up form reads well. Looking for further again but a win wouldnt surprise in this small field. Beautiful Jewel the best of the rest and wasn’t too far off last start behind a couple of in-form horses. Never missed the quinella in two goes here.
3. Lavish Thinker
5. Infinity Imperial
4. Burning Bright
2. Dixie Whistler
Betting Strategy
Lavish Thinker is bursting to get back into the winners stalls after a run of second placings. The horse led them up last start but the airborne Rabtat mowed him down late. Proven at this trip draws well and Opperman sticks. Can go one better here and Parks track suits. Infinity Imperial ground through the line hard for 2nd last start but Paradise Storm just proved too strong over the top. Drops slightly in grade here and senior takes over. Proven at the trip. Burning Bright is in red hot form placing twice behind Rabtat then winning two on end including a tough win last weekend over 1950m. Has to step up to 2500m the concern but sure to be grinding away in the finish again. Really well placed at the weights again. Dixie Whistler is a battler that hasn’t won in a while but she’s always around the mark in these distance staying events.
13. Skadoosh
4. Virtual Illusion
2. Gwyllgi
1. Gin Explosion
Betting Strategy
No bet race. Trial form flying in from everywhere. Might be a handy juvenile race moving forward but prefer to watch. Skadoosh has the raceday form on her side which may come in handy. Virtual Illusion, Gwyllgi and Gin Explosion all trialled well in slick enough time at the Murray Bridge trials on the 18th. Perhaps watch flucs if you want a bet but staying out and looking at other races with more guided form.
7. Thunder Shoc
2. Bay Of Sea
1. Sharendipity
5. Refreshing
Betting Strategy
No bet race. Pretty even affair. Luck in running will play a part here. Thunder Shoc can be forgiven for a poor run last start when raced wide the trip and knocked up. Is better than that. Previous form warrants selection and the horse has never missed the quinellla in three attempts at the track/distance. Pannell goes aboard. Bay Of Sea is fitter for two runs back and is another that covered ground last start but stuck on gamely. They have tinkered with gear here and draws to do no work. Worth another go. Serendipity got back and rocketed home for an eye-catching 3rd. That’s her go though so will be needing genuine speed again. This is probably slightly easier. Refreshing raced on speed and was a gutsy winner at a midweek race at Murray Bridge. Up in grade but right down in weight and draws for a soft run.
1. Komachi
5. Bad Detective
6. Inaugural
4. Thermodynamic
Betting Strategy
BACK: 1. Komachi (WIN & PLACE) for 2 units
Been in Komachi’s corner a few times this prep but have been let down by unlucky rides and a forgivable performance last start when wanted to get too far back and coulldn’t come on .Giving one more go here with the engagement of Todd Pannell and the step up to 1550m. Draws well Is a huge drop in grade and looks an each-way special if she brings her best. Bad Detective has been well in commission this prep without winning. Really good two back followed up by going to quick well out in front and knocking up last time out. Likely to employ the same tactics here but drops 5kg from last run and could prove too hard to run down with the featherweight. Inaugural was really good for a closing 3rd at this track two back before closing well once again for a 2.9L 8th on the outer track but was just too far back. Forgive that. Extra trip suits and races well here on the Parks circuit. Thermodynamic is racing well this prep and has been right in the finish the past three including a narrow 5th at this track/distance/grade last start. Draws to do nothing from gate 1. Will be thereabouts again.
BACK: 1. Komachi (WIN & PLACE) for 2 units
8. Guru Warrior
6. Silent Emmy
10. Suit Of Wands
3. Themansman
Betting Strategy
BACK: 8. Guru Warrior (WIN) for 3 units
Guru Warrior has been ridiculously unlucky both runs this prep and to be honest hasn’t been Taylor Johnstone’s best rides. Last start was $18 to $4.6 and was a nightmare watch as the hoop just wouldn’t take gaps. Senior Jason Holder takes over here. Gets his chance up in distance. Silent Emmy seems to go to the well every weekend and either runs a ripper or a shocker. Just depends on her manners. If she can settle out in front she will take a power of catching gliding around the tight turning Parks circuit. Suit Of Wands is still a MDN but is showing good staying ability. Is the likely backmarker of the race but if Silent Emmy goes too quick then this ex stablemate can be right over the top of them at a price. Themansman is an honest Gelding that ran a good 1.3L 2nd behind the extremely talented Anthracite. That’s probably the strongest form line for the race.
5. Surprise Coming
10. Clarence
7. Zebella
2. Ndola
Betting Strategy
BACK: 5. Surprise Coming (WIN & PLACE) for 2 units
Competitive race this one. Surprise Coming is a talented horse resuming that generally improves after a run but looks seriously well placed first up here with the 3kg claim. Gets down to 53kg here fresh. He draws to get a soft time of it here and did looked tuned up for this after a nice trial at Murray Bridge. Looks a good each-way hope and the early market move suggests the horse is ready to show up. The big boy Clarence is racing in great heart this prep with a win and three thirds from his past five starts. He draws to do no work here and gets in on the minimum. Never missed the quinella in three goes at the track/distance. Zebella looks the likely leader here. The mare is first up after a decent enough prep across the border. Fresh stats are good and well placed with the claim. The one they have to gun down. Ndola is first up coming across the border for the red hot Hayes team. Is Group 3 placed and ran OK in a Group 1 Australian Guineas. Clearly this is a drop back. Draws well.
BACK: 5. Surprise Coming (WIN & PLACE) for 2 units
6. Nicish
2. Ice Symphony
9. Vallencourt
7. Bellezze
Betting Strategy
BACK: 6. Nicish (WIN) for 2 units
Pretty ordinary affair. Nicish clearly has the best form lines with a narrow 2nd to the potential star in Cash. She never runs a bad race and has great track and distance stats. She’s the one to beat and look for her late. Ice Symphony is coming of a Bordertown BM66 win but he did it with ease. There’s no real world beaters in this so there’s no reason the horse can’t step up to metro level and measure up. Claim helps the cause. Vallencourt was racing well before falling victim to the tough Balaklava track when right in the market. Happy to let that one slide and draws to do no work. Can bounce back. Bellezze is coming off a very impressive MDN victory when showing a great turn of foot to score with ease. Can go on with it up in grade as the race isn’t overly strong. Jason Holder sticks the ride.
10. Leaving Las Vegas
11. Extra Hot
9. Collated
2. Jilladora
Betting Strategy
No bet race to end the day. Leaving Las Vegas is a consistent type who ran very well from the tail for a narrow 0.5L 4th last weekend. Hopefully the horse can settle a bit closer from gate 1 today. Is 1/1 at the trip. Deserves to be favourite. Extra Hot is racing in consistent fashion this prep. Ran a narrow 2nd to the inform Alainge when coming from well back. Goes great guns at the distance and Jake Toeroek sticks the ride. Collated is first up from a break and had a good prep winning a couple of races last time in work. Is at a big price here but Matthew Seyers horses always outperform market expectations. Could be the value in the last.Jilladora is dropping back a fair bit in class here. Shes a good mare that is fitter for two runs back. Has very good track/distance stats.
Want to learn how to lay bet?
When you place a lay bet, you are betting on something not to happen. Let’s think about the Melbourne Cup again. Remember: there can only be one winner. But what about the others trailing behind them? If you place a lay bet in a “Win” market, you can celebrate if the runner tails off at the back of the field.
