MORPHETTVILLE PREVIEW AND TIPS | EXPERT TIPS | SATURDAY JULY 26TH 2025
RAIL: True TRACK: Soft 7 (Friday Morning)
Projected around 30ml of rain Friday and Saturday so expecting this track to get beyond a heavy 8 by race day.
6. Under The Cone
8. Shoeless
2. Starts Now
7. Governor King (scr)
Betting Strategy
Under The Cone looked all over a winner last start but the stable mate Starts Now kicked back right on the line and beat him by a nose. He now meets that horse 1.5kg better at the weights and might be able to turn the tables here. Track and distance stats good and draws well here. Shoeless comes across from the astute Shawn Mathrick stable and really caught the eye late at Sandown last time out for 2nd. Is racing in great heart this prep winning two and placing three times from his last five starts. Should settle back and come home hard late. Starts Now toughed it out for a gutsy win in front of Under The Cone last time out. He loves this track and trip and draws for a soft run. Toeroek sticks the ride. Governor King came from well back to score at Ballarat over the mile last start. The horse doesn’t know how to run a bad race and draws perfect in 4 here. Should be in the finish in a very even race to start the day.
1. Queman (Likely to be scratched)
4. Lingani
5. Sixteen Reasons
2. Extremely Lucky
Betting Strategy
BACK: 4. Lingani (WIN) for 2 units
If the real Queman shows up then he should be winning. Had a few injury issues since the surprise Group 1 win but looks to have come back in good order with a stylish trial win. First up form is very strong and loves racing here at Morphettville. Gets some weight relief with the 3kg claim for Emily Pozman. Lingani is a talented horse that jumped the border and was only fair in a G3 event on a day it was difficult to make ground. Forgive that. Drops in grade here and is very well suited down at 52kg with the 2kg claim. Loves soft/heavy conditions and am expecting that Saturday. Sixteen Reasons draws for a cosy run in transit here. Came from well back to score a good race at Caulfield last start. Can win again. Extremely Lucky was OK in the same race as Lingani last start for 4L 7th. His best is good enough but is just down on form a bit. This is easier and the stable switch might do him good.
3. Sav On Ice
1. Snoopy Now
11. Gin Rummy
4. Mometz
Betting Strategy
his is a high quality event. Sav On Ice had a big wrap on him prior to the first career run but had struggled to put it all together. Has finally found form with a mid-week kill at Balaklava but then followed it up with a dominant win over the 1550m last Saturday. Up in weight but looks progressive and can no doubt win again. Any cut out helps the cause. Snoopy Now is a model of consistency and came home hard along the rail to just miss for 0.2L 3rd. Track/dist stats suit and handles all conditions. Will be in the finish again. Gin Rummy is working towards another win after a few nice eye-catching performances over shorter trips. The step up from 1400m to 1600m suits now. Mometz was probably ridden a touch upside down last start but stick on for 1.9L 5th at Caulfield. He’s got a bit of upside and should be thereabouts with a soft run in transit from gate 3.
2. From The Block
7, Hot Strut
3. Cash
1. Bancoora
Betting Strategy
Not a bad little event with some potential smart ones in this. From The Block has kicked started the Australian career in style winning at the mid-week levels but last start won by 9L untouched. This is a big jump in grade but the horse looks very progressive and handles the heavy surfaces. Can make it a hattrick here. Hot Strut took 12 starts to break the MDN but has won the past two at mid-week level with ease. Is another making the step up to metro level but cannot knock a mare in form and handles heavy conditions. Cash is a $1.1 million dollar purchase that went to Moonee Valley on debut and was much too good. Spelled and given time to mature. Poked around for 5th in a recent trial and Michael Hickmott always has his juveniles ready to roll fresh. Bred to handle the conditions. Bancoora was sent around $15 last start and absolutely bolted in on a Soft 7 at Gawler by 4.4L. Only up 2kg in weight and clearly handles the bad conditions.
14. Impending Diamond
3. Brung King (SCR)
6. Metrical
2. Validated
Betting Strategy
BACK: 14. Impending Diamond (WIN & PLACE) for 2 units
Impending Diamond had been dominating at the mid-weeks then hit town last Saturday and had no luck at all when checked in the straight. This horse grows a leg on Heavy surfaces so expect a good showing each-way here. Building a good record with Zoe Lloyd in the saddle. Brung King is a dead set swimmer and will get conditions to suit here. Was OK last start but had a few things go wrong at the start and wanted to over do things. Draws well and will be doing the rain dance. Metrical is putting together a really nice prep with two wins and two narrow 2nd placings from 4 starts. He has a good record over this track/distance, handles the heavy and Jason Holder sticks the ride. Sure to be in the finish again. Validated is probably the best horse in the race on his day but is struggling to recapture it. Ran OK last start for a closing 3rd. Heavy track a concern but ability might take him a fair way here. Let’s see how he goes under the new trainer.

7. Je City
1. Exabanoise
2. The Mansman
10. Obi
Betting Strategy
BACK: 7. Je City (WIN & PLACE) for 1 unit
Je City went around $201 last start at Gawler and didn’t have much luck at all when blocked for runs and gave the apprentice a tough time. Still got through the line for 3.6L 6th. Forgive that. Like the fact a senior is taking over here. Could surprise at big odds. Exabanoise comes across from the Chris Calthorpe camp at Geelong when race 4 wide the trip but stuck on well for 3rd. Given a freshen up to get over the tough run. Loves racing on heavy tracks, draws well and a gear change here. The Mansman drops in grade after a lacklustre performance when in the market at BM76 grade. Neindorf sticks the ride and will appreciate the class drop. Obi was a stylish winner at Balaklava then came to town and was OK for 7th after not having not much luck in running. Given a freshen up and likes wet tracks. Caitlin Jones rides him well.

1. Dandruff
7. High Society Girl
5. Wine Baron
4. The Autumn Belle
Betting Strategy
No bet race. Very difficult race to figure out with form flying in from all parts of the Nation. Dandruff is a dual acceptor that is coming off a dominant win at Albury when swam through the heavy conditions. Will get that here again and like the booking of Luke Currie. Ran a good 3rd here behind High Society Girl when coming to Adelaide last. Meets that horse slightly worse off at the weights but the heavy track form is the key. High Society Girl was bloody stiff last weekend when bombed the start but still had the audacity to pick her way through the field for a close up 3rd. Stephen Theodore has his stable flying and does a great job with tried horses. She draws well and doesn’t know how to run a bad race. Sure to be thereabouts. Wine Baron looks hard to beat here. Has turned the form around since changing ownership and is coming off a dominant 4.4L romp at Gawler. Draws poorly but the elite riding skills of Todd Pannell will figure that out. Likes the sting out. The Autumn Belle was a good winner in strong company at Sandown last start when coming from well back to score. She’s bred to get through these trying conditions and Henry Dwyer places them well when he comes to Adelaide.
1. Sir Now
13. Cicala
9. Madame Maserati
3. Colmar
Betting Strategy
BACK: 1. Sir Now (WIN & PLACE) for 2 units
Would love to see Sir Now win a listed event and gets a great chance to do that here. Is looking for 5 in a row here. He is a bomb-proof Gelding that handles anything that comes his way. Loves the cut out the track and Maggie Collett loves riding the horse. Go the South Aussie! Cicala is a lightly raced filly who looks very progressive with two stylish career wins. This is her biggest test to date but she’s got an electric turn of foot. Gave Noetzie a bath last start and that horse came out and won by 5L on Saturday. Strong form lines. Madame Maserati made it a hattrick of wins before a break then raced at Stakes level down the straight fresh and came up short. Forgive that, is a second up winner in the past and loves heavy tracks. Colmar has been ticking over nicely for a race like this. Last time this horse raced in a Listed juvenile contest it won a Group 3 Sires Produce by 5L on a heavy.

9. Blanc Visage
1. Caladan
12. Purfect Line
3. Up The Den
Betting Strategy
BACK: 9. Blanc Visage (WIN & PLACE) for 2 units
Blanc Visage has good ability and looks to have come back in good order this prep kicking it off with an eye-catching 2.2L 5th over the 1100m. Draws well here, strips fitter and Lachy Neindorf sticks. Caladan won two in a row in dominant fashion then was no match for Noetzie last start. Gets away from restricted grade here and should have no issues with a potential heavy surface. The stablemate Purfect Line simply doesn’t know how to run a bad race but she does struggle to find the winning post first. Finished 7th last start but was only 1.5L away. Drops in grade and well suited with the claim for Taylor Johnstone. Up The Den is lightly raced winning two from three and resumes here with a solid jump out performance. Always respect Michael Hickmott horses fresh!
