MORPHETTVILLE PREVIEW AND TIPS | EXPERT TIPS | SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 13TH 2025
RAIL:Â +13m 1200 to WP, 9m Remainder, Sectional 617 Metres TRACK: Good 4
3. From The Block
6. Sorel Rising
7. Sywcho
4. Under And Over
Betting Strategy
No bet race but an intriguing and even event to start the day. From The Block made a big impression with 3 dominant wins here since coming from overseas. Went to Melbourne where his first run was a close up 3rd but then didn’t come on at Sandown on a pretty firm track. Will appreciate getting back on a softer surface here and Toeroek sticks the ride over the stablemate. Sorel Rising caught the eye two back before only whacking away with the big 62kg on a testing heavy at Bendigo, Forgive that. Is fitter for two runs back, drops 5kg and a better surface suits. Swycho has had a freshen up since only being fair the past few starts She’s better than that. Draws well here and Michael Hickmott is very smart at palcings his horses fresh Under And Over did enough in her 2nd SA run. Will be fitter for that and the extra trip suits. Has won two from three second up.
3. Bring Forth SCR
2. Rabtat
1. Goliotus
5. Lavish Thinker
Betting Strategy
No bet race. Bring Forth comes across from the powerful Kent/Price team and is coming off a dominant 4.4L victory over the 2400m at Bendigo. Up in grade but gets in nicely at the weights with the 3kg claim for Matthew Chadwick. Draws well and never runs a bad race. Rabtat is racing in career best form with 3 gutsy wins from his last 3. Was really powerful through the line over 2250m last start so the 2500m should be no issue. Can make it 4 on end. Goliotus is another racing in great heart with two wins and a 2nd from his past three. Ideally the horse would like a bog track but unlikely to get that here. It still wont stop him from running well over this long trip. Lavish Thinker is hoping to go one better after a couple of narrow 2nds. The horse has a great record over this 2500m trip so you know he will be right in the finish.
1. Intellectual
5. Like A Drifter
7. Zoutrial
9. Juxtapose
Betting Strategy
No bet race. Don’t like getting involved with these juvenile races. Watch for any betting moves but happy to sit this out and looks for future runs.
6. Guru Warrior
14. Robert The Puss
2. Leaving Las Vegas
8. Top Of The Ridge
Betting Strategy
BACK: 6. Guru Warrior (WIN & PLACE) for 2 units
Tricky race to figure out. Guru Warrior started long odds last start over an unsuitable 1250m and didn’t have the greatest of luck in the straight without being a serious winning threat. Is fitter for two runs back and the step up in trip is clearly in his favour. Has come back well from a break. Robert The Puss is having a good campaign at mid-week level but gets his chance at metro grade after a luckless run last time out. Senior taking over is a positive as he looked a handful for the apprentice at Strath. Has a good record over this trip. Leaving Las Vegas took 8 starts to break the MDN but hasn’t missed a place in all those career runs and kept bumping into progressive horses. Doesn’t meet any world beaters here and has placed only start here at Morphettville. Top Of The Ridge is fitter for two runs back and will appreciate getting over this further trip after catching the eye last start on the Parks circuit over a slightly shorter trip

1.Mesrour
9. Thunder Shoc
2. Bay Of Sea
4. Endless Forever
Betting Strategy
Mesrour is a smart Gelding resuming from a break who has never missed the quinella in three first up attempts. Doesn’t win out of turn but never runs a bad race. Draws softly here and should be ready to go fresh. Thunder Shoc is an up and coming mare who ran a close 2nd to Halliwell who is absolutely airborne at the moment. All three runs back from a break have been full of merit and Rochelle Milnes sticks the ride. Bay Of Sea led them up in that Halliwell/Thunder Shoc race and stuck on nicely for 4th when potentially in inferior ground. Senior takes over here and draws for a nice run in trasnit. Endless Forever is a lightly raced 4yo mare with two wins from three starts. They have been quite patient with her and they have given her a 5 week freshen and jump out since a gutsy win last start. Has upside.
3. Anthracite
4. Lomax
13. Spelman
5. The Mansman
Betting Strategy
BACK: 3. Anthracite (WIN) for 4 units
Anthracite is laying claims to be one of the best horses in South Australia with a dominant 6L MDN win at Murray Bridge but progresses straight into town and dominated a class 2 with ease. The step up to 1800m suits now and should be winning again with Todd Pannell staying in the saddle. Looks very progressive. Lomax was an eye-catcher for 3rd when charged home over the 1600m behind Tropical House. The extra furlong suits now, Toeroek sticks and the horse is a 3x winner at this track. Look for him late. Spelman took forever to get back into form but did so with a dominant win at Gawler last start Started favourite in a 1600m mid-weeker last start but could only really warm through the line when it was all over for 2.6L 6th. Th e 1800m looks to suit now and gets in with the featherweight of 51kg after the claim for apprentice Brook King. The Mansman is forever around the mark in these Saturday events over a middle trip. Was good for 3rd over the 1550m so might be looking for 1800m now
7. Hallstat
10. Shadow Eagle
2. Clarence
3. Dyer
Betting Strategy
Hallstat is desperate to get back in the winners’ stalls after being something beaten the past two starts when blocked badly along the fence and could only get out late. Gets to the wider surfaces of the outer track now and draws well with the claim for Alana Livesey. Has ability on his day and deserves to breakthrough. Shadow Eagle really caught the eye for a close up 3rd behind a couple of talented horses in Cash and Nicish. He’s a model of consistency that goes well at this track/distance. Gets in light with the 3kg claim. Goes close. Clarence got a well deserved win over this track last time out and profiles much the same here with the inside draw and Kayla Crowther keeping the ride. If the big boy can shoulder into the clear in the straight then he will take some beating. Dyer was a dominant winner at BM70 level at Mildura last start. Been given a 7 week break for this and Michael Hickmott always presents them well fresh. Perhaps watch markets.
3. Aviatress
9. Don’t Hope Do
15. Prairie Flower
1. Recommendation
Betting Strategy
BACK: 3. Aviatress (WIN & PLACE) for 2 units
Good race this one. Aviatress resumes from a spell here and is coming off a good prep where she won and placed at Listed level and competed in the States biggest races. She is bomb proof first up with three wins and a placing from for fresh runs. Jumped out well and regular rider Jake Toeroek steers. Surely is ready to go fresh. Don’t Hope Do is coming off different form after finishing 3rd behind a pretty talented horse in Tonkin. He meets the 2nd horse Kiki 6kg better at the weights and draws well. Looks a good priced hope. Prairie Flower is another smart mare returning from a spell who ran very well in a Group 1 Sangster before going OK in the Goodwood Hcp before a spell. Her first up form is very good and Kayla Crowther has a great record on her. Recommendation was excellent before Queman for a close 2nd two back. That horse was only 3.5L away in a Group 1 last Saturday so that form should tie in well. Forget about last start when popped after leading and not handling the week back up. Been freshened for this.

9. Big Sue
11. Tropical House
12. Wine Baron
10. Dark N Confidential
Betting Strategy
BACK: 9. Big Sue (WIN & PLACE) for 2 units
Big Sue hasn’t had much luck of late including a luckless run two back when blocked badly along the fence followed up by a horror run in transit that set the race up beautifully for eventual winner Tropical House. Forgive that. Meets that horse 2kg better at the weights here. Just needs luck. Tropical House is a lightly raced but up and coming mare who has won four from eight starts. Given a peach by talented apprentice Matthew Chadwick last time out. Meets a couple of rivals a couple of kgs worse at the weights but the horse might have more upside. Wine Baron finished a close 2nd in that same race. Will have to overcome a wide draw but gets the services of Todd Pannell to sort that out. Racing very well this prep. Dark N Confidential is building up to the correct fitness now with 3 runs back this prep. No match for the highly talented Anthracite here but still boxed on well. Fourth up here looks to suit and Jason Holder a decent booking

Want to learn how to lay bet?
When you place a lay bet, you are betting on something not to happen. Let’s think about the Melbourne Cup again. Remember: there can only be one winner. But what about the others trailing behind them? If you place a lay bet in a “Win” market, you can celebrate if the runner tails off at the back of the field.
