EXPERT RACING TIPS: GOULBURN

GOULBURN PREVIEW AND TIPS | EXPERT TIPS | SUNDAY AUGUST 24TH 2025

BACK: 9. SPREAD THE LOVE

SPREAD THE LOVE (9) was a $30,000 Champion Thoroughbreds purchase at the 2024 NZB Ready To Run Sale at Karaka. He is by Contributer out of a Pins mare so his future could perhaps be at a mile and more but he certainly looked to be sharp enough in that trial won by Blitzburg no less in town recently

Betting Strategy

BACK: 9. EVERLASTING STARS

EVERLASTING STARS (9) is owned by Hall of Fame inductee Bob Charley. This 6YO direct descendant of former crack filly Momemtiare boasts some pretty compelling numbers right across the board. First off, she has raced here at home twice for a win and second. On top of that, she has a win and two placing from five starts on heavy. Quinella 9, 12.

Betting Strategy

BACK: 5. SOCRAZYINLOVE (WIN)

SOCRAZYINLOVE (5) was the sale-topper at the Inglis Premier Yearling Sale in 2023 selling for $1.1m. No wonder, given she is by I Am Invincible out of a stakes-placed mare from the Eight Carat line! We should point out that she was sold to Tyreel Stud for $550,000 at the 2025 Broodmare sale. Form reads well.

BACK: 7. SPIRITS BURN DEEP (WIN & PLACE)

SPIRITS BURN DEEP (7) was bred by, is owned by and trained by one of the sport’s great all-rounders, Neil Osborne. This daughter of Deep Field has finished on the podium at 13 of her 30 starts which makes her an appealing each-way proposition when she races. On top of that, this is her home track where her record at this distance is three goes for a win and a second.

Betting Strategy

BACK: 3. CLUBMAN (WIN)

CLUBMAN (3) was foaled in England but has done all his racing here in Australia. When we say “all” he has only had four starts. He won two of them, one was an easy maiden win at Canberra, the other was at Scone in a Class 1 where he beat subsequent Queensland Oaks winner, You Wahng! Good return to racing the other day, he might be a better horse than these others.

Betting Strategy

BACK: 11. O’SHEAMUS (WIN)

Well-bred 3YO that has trialled up nicely after a top debut on Anzac Day.

Betting Strategy

BACK: 7. WOOTTON VERNI (WIN)

WOOTTON VERNI (7) was a very good horse in France. His record there was nine starts for five wins and two seconds. He won a stakes-race there called the Prix Greffulhe over 2000m. It is a Group 2 of some repute judging by the honour roll of (including) Gold Trip, Dalakhani, Montjeu, Peintre Celebre, Darshaan, Roi Lear and Sea Bird no less! Wow. Maybe he didn’t come up last prep but he’s been trialling like the good horse he so clearly is.

Betting Strategy

BACK: 6. PHILADELPHIA STORM (WIN)

PHILADELPHIA STORM (6) is a Gary Colvin-trained gelding whose fourth dam is Alshandegha. If that name rings a bell, it could be because she was the mother of Mahogany. As for Philadelphia Storm he has posted four wins, four seconds and four thirds from his 29 starts. Two of those wins are circa this trip. Most important of all is that the son of Choisir has two wins and two placings from six starts on heavy tracks
