Betting Strategy

Competitive midway level race kicks off the meeting here. THE GREAT HOUDINI rates well for a race like this after he was a 1st up winner in a similar race, conditions should be no issue either but he may get back in the field so may be hoping for an even track to give him his best chance. DON’T DOUBT MERLIN is 1st up and has gone undefeated in his previous 1st up runs, so can fire fresh. DUCK EGG BLUE is fit into this prep now 4th up after some solid performances, how she handles the wet track is key for her and forgive TRAFALGAR SQUARE for her last start run where she was caught wide through out the race, maps much better here today.

Betting Strategy

How these 2YO handle a potential wet track is really going to tell how the race goes, so it is a a race that may be best to be betting into late if you are keen. SEQUISTA comes into the race with some strong form lines through her last start and this appears easier, looks her race if she can handle the track. HIDDEN ACHIEVEMENT ran 2nd on debut and maps for a positive run through this, he may have the scope to improve. TIBERIUS won his debut and looks a likely leader of this, so if the track is favouring on speed types he may be suited.

JOISELLE has placed in 2 of her last 3 runs at a similar level race to this today, she can go well on a wet track and has a positive race map. So rising to 1200m now with this set up looks as if it should suit and she gets a good chance to win now. CARRIBEAN KING was close to the winners in a similar race to this last time and the conditions should likely suit him here to give him every chance. MCKEON needs to find some improvement but coming back to the 1200m now may give him that chance. ATMOSPHERIC ROCK resumes for this, he has previously won 2 of his 6 career 1st up starts so can fire fresh.

HURTSVILLE ZAGREB is currently undefeated so far into his 2 race career. He goes out and races prominently up on speed and that race map lands him in a good position here. He looks a progressive type and while needs to find a little improvement, the suitable conditions give him that chance to find it. ENTER THE DRAGON is in super form, he has 3 wins from 4 starts this prep and has won 2 in a row coming into this. hard to knock his form and he looks suited in these conditions but may need luck from a wide barrier. ENGINE ROOM is 2/2 so far this prep and looks well suited rising up to the 1600m 3rd up into this prep now and YANKEE ONE is another runner who is in super form having won her last 2 starts, having her first crack at the 1600m today but has been going super.

CORMAC T was scratched from a midweek race to come here and have a crack at this race. He looks well suited in the conditions given his form on wet tracks and more importantly the fact that he maps to push forwards and be prominent on a track we believe will advantage runners forwards of midfield. SUN GOD is one of interest, don’t feel we have seen the best of him yet since he made his debut in Australia, he ran a close 3rd last start so may be close to finding the level of form that he was producing when back in the UK. ASGOODASSOBERGETS comes out of the last start race that SUN GOD does, they both hit the line in a similar position so would feel if there is level to improve out of that race, it may also give ASGOODASSOBERGETS a chance as well. MR BUSTER needs to take a step up in level to be winning in a field like this, but he goes up in trip for this which looks as if it should suit and give him that chance to improve.

LAY: 12. Rantan (WIN) for 2 units (Rated at $9.00)

Taking on RANTAN in this race who at time of writing was the race favourite. Feel by this stage of the day, if the track is playing as expected, and it is favourable to be on speed, she may find herself in an awkward position from that inside barrier as she is a type that gets back usually. She is a chance to find herself pushed back and covered up on the rails which could make it tough to get a run late in the ideal ground.

Betting Strategy

This years Gosford Gold Cup is a solid race with some good strong form lines coming into it. Think HEZASHOCKA looks well suited in these conditions on the wet track which could see him improve enough to be winning after a handy last start 2nd behind BOIS D’ARGENT. He is fitter for 4th up now as well having won 2 at this point previously so looks suited. NAVAL COLLEGE could be an improver 2nd up now and may be suited on the wet track. LES VAMPIRES has won 2 of his last 3 starts and gets a good race map here given there isn’t a huge amount of speed in the race which could see him get a soft run out in front.

BACK: 1. Lady In Pink (WIN) for 2 units (Rated at $5.50)

LADY IN PINK is making a bit of travel since her last start when she was a close 2nd behind ZLOTIES in a Group 2 last time at Morphettville. But feel there is enough value in her price to have a bet here despite the travel. The figures and subsequent form out of her last start run should really stack up well here in a race that looks a step down in grade from last start She has good form on wet tracks and maps to be prominent in the run from a good barrier.

Betting Strategy

Open betting race for this sprint feature. ACCREDITED resumes for this, he has a consistent record when 1st up into a prep (4:2-1-1) and while he may need to be at his best to win at this level, he generally does fire well fresh so gets that chance with a favourable race map. PEREILLE resumes as well, he is another who can fire well 1st up. WARNIE comes out of some high rated races last prep and may have some good upside, if he can settle forwards and be prominent he could take catching but may be an improver over more ground going forwards. BRUDENELL comes into this fresh and looks ideally suited over the 1200m fresh.

BACK: 10. Raikkonen (WIN) for 4 units (Rated at $2.40)

RAIKKONEN looks well suited her 1st up and after a couple of good wins through his first prep, he rates well at benchmark grade for this now and now having had more time coming into a 2nd prep, you would feel any natural improvement for him should have him rate highly and he does have the favourable race map for this so the set up looks as if it should give him every chance.
