He’s had a stinker of a day yesterday Wayne Lordan but might bounce back here for a horse that traditionally runs well in big handicaps at the Curragh. The near side is hopefully the place to be.

Top weight for this because he is a model of consistency. I’d be shocked if he doesn’t beat home 80% of this field even if he doesn’t win.

Purple Lily simply ran out of puff in the Irish Oaks and stepping back down in trip looks a logical move. She should be much classier than this bunch and the advantageous draw should provide an economical run all the way around where she can pounce late.

I expect a price drift on Bedtime Story as everyone tries to get smart and find a way to beat her. She’s undefeated and her Royal Ascot win was something special but she’s not lived up to that at her last few runs, just narrowly getting the job done. It’s possible she was being kept safe and set for this as well as other late season G1’s as she looked a shade big in condition. Winners win, and that’s all she’s done so far.

If the stand’s side is the place to be as I expect then Bradsell is even more the one to beat. He was too good at York even though he had the bias to assist and Believing did what it always does and flash home far too late past tired horses. Every chance they repeat that showing here.

Bucanero Fuerte had his first run in a long time at Haydock over six furlongs and got the stitch late on. Dropping in trip in search of another G1 success looks the right move and he’s drawn on the flank where Bradsell is. If he goes to hard he’ll at least set it up for Bradsell and give him the ideal cart into it.

Aomori City was a rocket at Goodwood, powering away with a stunning turn of foot. Might be a bit tricky to do that from the gate and Ryan Moore on Henri Matisse is going to get help from the stablemates drawn inside.
It’ll take a good ride to win but the price is far too appealing and they’ve paid the late entry fee to turn up here as he’s flying on the gallops.

Kyprios just keeps winning and he’s not got Trawlerman here to annoy him. Should be much too good and I’m surprised he’s not half that price. I’m hopeful of some Chinese whispers and a late drift to get a better price.

No Such Thing was fired up on debut and they had a hard time loading him. Been off since, gelded and now springs up in a restricted sales race. The horse that beat him when 2nd on debut went and landed a big pot auction race so the form stacks up as the best of the maidens in this field and if the stands side is hot he’s the one to beat.
