BACK: 1. Axius (WIN) for 3 units (Rated at $2.80)

AXIUS looks well suited for a race of this level here today. He gets into the race 3rd up here today and gets a favourable race map which could see him put a strong tempo into this race and put a few of these fresher horses under pressure. He is dropping in grade which suits and while not tested on a heavy track, he has soft track form so happy to back him to handle the conditions.

RANDWICK PREVIEW AND TIPS | EXPERT TIPS | WEDNESDAY AUGUST 13TH 2025

RAIL: True TRACK: Heavy 10

Racing on the Kensington track for todays meeting. Forecast is for a heavy rated track which can make it trickier to make ground up for runners, not expecting a leaders bias here, but if the inside lanes are playing inferior in the wet that could make it tougher for runners settling further back than the midfield position.

3. Cantiamo
1. Artistic Venture
2. Autumn Blonde
4. Rajwa

Betting Strategy

This looks a strong mid week maiden race that has 2YO group level form and this race should be a strong form reference going forwards. CANTIAMO has had strong early market support and has trialed strongly leading up to this after we saw a competitive run in her only start back in December, given more time to develop should have good benefits. ARTISTIC VENTURE & AUTUMN BLONDE both come out of those strong 2YO Group races last season. Gave ARTISTIC VENTURE the slight edge given her recent impressive trials but AUTUMN BLONDE likely gets a better race map. RAJWA makes her debut here and looks the best of those having their 1st start.

2. Sixties
1. Sanctified
5. Iniesta
7. Portofino

Betting Strategy

Another competitive maiden that looks likely to produce strong form going forwards. SIXTIES was a sharp improver last start and has a good level of race fitness which should help with handling the heavy track. SANCTIFIED has had one run on a wet track and while he didnt see out the race strongly, it was at a stronger level than this and a recent trial suggests he may have just had enough at the end of last prep and should improve fresh. INIESTA has taken time to get to the races but has been impressive at the trials so suggest he could perform well 1st up and PORTOFINO next who maps to be out in front and perhaps gets run of the race.

1. Tazima
2. Autumn Dream
5. Starphistocated
7. Stonecoat

Betting Strategy

TAZIMA looks as if he is getting to the right point of this prep to be a strong winning chance, he gets into this race 3rd up now and rising to the 1800m off a solid fitness base. The apprentice claim brings him down in the weights which should help on a wet track. AUTUMN DREAM was a good winner 2 starts back before a solid run last time out, this is a drop back in grade which should suit. STARPHISTOCATED has good form on heavy rated tracks and is dropping in grade as well, looks suited. STONECOAT has mixed his form in recent times, but is a last start winner and has for on heavy tracks, given the position he should get to in the run he wouldn’t surprise here.

BACK: 1. Axius (WIN) for 3 units (Rated at $2.80)

AXIUS looks well suited for a race of this level here today. He gets into the race 3rd up here today and gets a favourable race map which could see him put a strong tempo into this race and put a few of these fresher horses under pressure. 6. Passeggiata
4. Jambalaya
7. Moonlight Gambler
10. Monte Supreme

Betting Strategy

BACK: 6. Passeggiata (WIN) for 2 units (Rated at $2.20)

PASSEGGIATA resumes here today and appears well suited in this race. She has previously shown strong form 1st up into preps and is a strong performer when fresh (5:2-2-0). Her recent 2 trials have been super and she maps for a prominent run on speed, can handle a heavy track as well so appears the runner that will take catching.

2. Bat Out Of Hell
8. Narbold
10. Barbray
9. Pink Shalala

Betting Strategy

Competitive betting race with an open betting market. BAT OUT OF HELL has looked close to a win in his last 3 runs when running into the placings, he has strong heavy track form so looks suited. NARBOLD was solid when running 2nd in a similar race to this last time so expect he can go close again. BARBRAY comes out of the same last start run as NARBOLD. He was close enough there and with a positive ride should go close. PINK SHALALA can be a tough follow for punters but is generally consistent, has work to do from a wide barrier but could surprise with some luck.

12. Glory Daze
16. Salt Coats
8. St Lawrence
2. Adelaide River

Betting Strategy

LAY: 2. Adelaide River (WIN) for 2 units (Rated at $15.00)

ADELAIDE RIVER resumes today and while previously he has won 1st up, he doesn’t have any wins on rain effected tracks so this heavy 10 could prove a challenge for him as well as the fact that he is yet to also win over this distance. He maps for a tricky run so happy to be taking him on in this.

2. Herbert Park
3. La Roja
1. Harry’s Bar
4. Lady Boss

Betting Strategy

BACK: 2. Herbert Park (WIN & PLACE) for 1 unit (Rated at $7.00)

Small EW play on value runner in HERBERT PARK for this race. He is well suited on heavy rated tracks (3:2-0-0) while other key chances in the race haven’t got the stronger records on wet tracks. HERBERT PARK will likely race up on speed in a prominent position and with an inform apprentice engaged, he looks every chance to be able to give this a shake at a good price.

Randwick Racecourse Betting Tips

Royal Randwick is located in Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs, and like Rosehill the racecourse is operated by the Australian Turf Club (ATC). Randwick hosts 20 time-honoured Group 1s each year but today its biggest raceday is The Everest, which at $15 million is the world’s richest turf race. For expert race tips and best bets on The Everest and every Randwick meeting, head to the Betfair Hub.

History

The site was first designated for use as a racecourse in January 1883, with a private raceday held there six months later. For 20 years between 1840 and 1860, the racecourse was only used as a training facility but racing resumed in May 1860 with a crowd of more than 6,000 in attendance. The ATC assumed control of Randwick in 2011, when the Australian Jockey Club and the Sydney Turf Club merged to form a new body.

Fast Facts

  • Considered the headquarters of Sydney racing, Randwick is on designated public land and is leased to the ATC.
  • Randwick was given royal status in 1992, when Queen Elizabeth II paid a visit to officially open the Paddock Stand.
  • During his visit to Australia in 1970, Pope Paul VI held mass at Randwick. Some say racegoers have been seeking divine intervention ever since!
  • Several scenes in the Mission: Impossible franchise were filmed at Randwick.

Key Events

Over two days each April, Randwick hosts The Championships which offer more than $20 million in prizemoney. Featuring several Group 1s, including the Australian Derby, Queen Elizabeth Stakes, Sydney Cup and Doncaster Handicap, The Championships are the climax of Sydney’s autumn carnival. The feature race of Sydney’s spring carnival is The Everest, which was first run in 2017 and today is the richest turf race held anywhere in the world. The race attracts Australia’s best sprinters, and is the centrepiece of Randwick racing each spring.

Track Profile

The Rosehill track has a circumference of 2,224m, with the home straight measuring 410m. In its early days Randwick was referred to as the ‘Sandy Course’ due to the poor condition of the track, but today it is considered Sydney’s premier racecourse.
