BACK: 1. Sweet Valentine (WIN) for 2 units (Rated at: $2.50)

High quality fourth grade sprint with many of these dogs having won 10+ races in their careers. Sweet Valentine isn’t one of them; however, when it is all said and done she will have won 10+. She possesses extraordinary box speed and it’s somewhat a shock she hasn’t won more races already. Drawn to lead and will be hard to run down.

The next trio are the class runners of the race; however, all need to contend with stepping down to the 407m after having multiple starts over further.

Say Some Words is boxed to return to form while Rosa’s Legend and Sir Banjo have awkward allies to contest with.

LAY: 3. Me And Fred (WIN) for 2 units (Rated at: $6.00)

Me And Fred has been heavily supported in his past two starts and rightly so as he was racing in pathways class. He was unable to get the job done last Wednesday in the final and faces an even stiffer task tonight. He appears to be sandwiched on the map with genuine high line speed all around him from the likes of Grand Riku, Flat Broke and Blue Zeal. This trio can produce a top grade first split which will make it hard for Me And Fred to get the room he requires early.

Simply put, if he can’t lead a pathways fifth-grade, he shouldn’t lead a hot fourth-fifth grade race which will be the end of his winning hopes.

RACE 1 | SELECTIONS

3. Tijuana Two Step
6. Keep Paying
2. Showtime Hunter
5. Chipped Penny

Betting Strategy

NO BET.

Tijuana Two Step has improved with racing. She ran a personal best 24.19 last start over this track and trip when finishing second to Sergeant Green who ran BON.

Keep Paying brings great interest to this race. He is first up from Victoria where he placed in four of his five starts. If he can convert his Geelong times to Rockhampton he should be hard to beat.

Showtime Hunter ran second two starts ago in 24.12. Not the worst.

Chipped Penny is better than her last showing.

RACE 2 | SELECTIONS

5. Sweet Lollipop
4. Blake’s John
1. Jaggery
7. Dailee Gambles

Betting Strategy

NO BET.

Four of the eight runners lined up in last week’s novice where Suppose strode to victory.

Sweet Lollipop finished closest to the action running just over two lengths off Suppose. Drawn box five once again and would only need to step on terms to be a major player here.

Blake’s John made good improvement from his first Rockhampton start. Could have the most upside.

Jaggery ran a personal best and now draws inside while Dailee Gambles has poked around at a big price in this grade for quite some time.

RACE 3 | SELECTIONS

4. Sensational Star
2. Sergeant Green
1. Blue Raptor
5. Legal Result

Betting Strategy

BACK: 4. Sensational Star (WIN) for 1 unit (Rated at: $3.00)

Sensational Star has been a pillar of consistency since arriving in Rockhampton. The Ex-Victorian has finished in the top three in all of her nine starts to date. Five starts ago she ran a slick 23.70 defeating subsequent winner Nakisha and has since finished second behind the smart Exquisite and Suppose. She steps up to the 510m for the first time and appears the likely leader.

Sergeant Green was brilliant last week winning in BON 23.56 over the 407m; however, he is unlikely to hold out Sensational Star and will have to contend with Blue Raptor inside potentially veering off the track on the first corner. Siding with Sensational Star who will lead and be a better price than Sergeant Green.

RACE 4 | SELECTIONS

6. Suppose
4. Nitro Slim
5. Candyman
7. Tiger Mum

Betting Strategy

NO BET.

Suppose made a winning start on her Rockhampton debut with leading trainer Ken Boody. She showed brilliant box speed and wasn’t for catching. All the same, will be short in betting off that win and has to do it up in grade as well as having dogs around her.

Nitro Slim doesn’t win out of turn only having won four of his 32 starts. Despite this, he has adapted well to the Rockhampton 407m winning two from five. Will be strongest late.

Candyman and Tiger Mum both drop back in grade after three consecutive unplaced runs. The pair will be winning shortly.

RACE 5 | SELECTIONS

3. Kingsbrae Smokey
2. Key Piece
7. Stomp
5. Moonlit Dior

Betting Strategy

NO BET.

Tricky race with many of these desperately out of form.

Kingsbrae Smokey is by far and away the most talented greyhound in this race. He has a slick 23.58 personal best over this track and trip. Would only need to run to 70-80% of his capabilities to take out this race.

Key Piece is another who is out of form due to his poor box manners. He hasn’t tasted success since August 2023. All the same, this is arguably his easiest contest since that win.

Stomp and Moonlit Dior have identical records. They can fill the minor money.

RACE 6 | SELECTIONS

1. Sweet Valentine
3. Say Some Words
5. Rosa’s Legend
6. Sir Banjo

Betting Strategy

BACK: 1. Sweet Valentine (WIN) for 2 units (Rated at: $2.50)

High quality fourth grade sprint with many of these dogs having won 10+ races in their careers. Sweet Valentine isn’t one of them; however, when it is all said and done she will have won 10+. RACE 7 | SELECTIONS

2. Educator
5. Who Goes There
3. Clock Watcher
7. Exquisite

Betting Strategy

NO BET.

Educator was heavily supported in betting last week when putting in arguably his worst performance to date. It was his first 510m start and he didn’t get things his own way. This is a drop in class and it could pay to be forgiving. Who Goes There is a newcomer to the Darren Taylor kennels and he brings good formlines from Victoria. Darren has had good success with these dogs in the past and could potentially have another handy one.

Clock Watcher is yet to miss the placings over this track and trip in three starts while Exquisite is yet to lose over this track and trip. Competitive race.

RACE 8 | SELECTIONS

7. Tagovailoa
3. City Way
1. Mr. Takeover
6. More Peaches

Betting Strategy

NO BET.

Feature race of the night and it’s a cracker.

Team Boody are well represented with the Dalma based kennel having seven of the eight starters. Tagovailoa is the clear class runner of this field. He has won three of his four starts since relocating to Rockhampton. All the same, he hasn’t raced in a full field yet which could be his undoing.

City Way is the ultimate country professional. He has won seven races over this track and trip. Brings plenty of experience in country feature races and draws well. Mr. Takeover defied an alarming betting drift last Wednesday winning well in 29.96.

More Peaches has somewhat gone off the boil; however, she would be classified as a country champion and one knows never to bag a champ!

RACE 9 | SELECTIONS

2. Sweet Zandra
7. Winlock All Over
3. Creme De Monte
4. Black Monaro

Betting Strategy

NO BET.

Sweet Zandra sped to the lead last Wednesday and scored with ease in 23.84. She’s drawn well here and appears the likely leader once again.

Winlock All Over was somewhat unlucky in her Rockhampton return, getting jammed on the first corner. Doesn’t mind space and is the class runner of the race.

Creme De Monte returns from a five month spell. She was flying prior to the break having won in 23.60. Watch betting.

Black Monaro lines up for the Taylor team for the first time tonight. Quick dog on his day.

RACE 10 | SELECTIONS

2. Grand Riku
4. Flat Broke
5. Blue Zeal
8. Ragin’ Fire

RACE 11 | SELECTIONS

5. Yuri Magic
4. Five Putt Cal
1. Lone Hunter
7. Blue Ocean View

Betting Strategy

BACK: 5. Yuri Magic (WIN) for 1 unit (Rated at: $5.00)

Once again, the free-for-all race appears to be of moderate standard which could lead to the enigmatic Yuri Magic taking top honours. The son of Surf Lorian is far from genuine; however, he owns a sublime 23.37 personal best over this track and trip. From his 26 starts, he has tasted success on seven occasions with only four minor placings which demonstrates his boom or bust nature.

He’s drawn well in box five with Five Putt Cal directly underneath him likely to beat him out as well as a vacant box outside and the slow Blue Ocean View in box seven. This should allow Yuri Magic the time and space required to wind up. If he can run to anywhere near his best, he has the ability to upstage this field.

RACE 12 | SELECTIONS

6. Nakisha
4. Bossy Miss Bliss
7. Dazzling Star
5. Sayaka

Betting Strategy

NO BET.

Nakisha has been racing in stellar form having won three of her past four races. She has shown she can overcome box six having won both her starts from the green. Plenty of upside.

Bossy Miss Bliss owns the fastest personal best in this field having run 23.60 just two starts ago. Capable of sprinting well fresh.

Dazzling Star has won two of her four starts. Consistent type who shouldn’t be dismissed.

Sayaka can run a cheeky race and will be a large price. One for wider exotics players.
