FEATURE PREVIEWS: INGLIS MILLENNIUM

INGLIS MILLENNIUM PREVIEW

Restricted LISTED, Set Weights, 2YO, $2,000,000 | Rail: True | Track Condition: Good 4

Rail back in the True position after being out 7m a fortnight ago. Track was on speed there due to the rail position but expecting it to be much harder to lead today. Fresh ground to the inside and come Race 7 on the day we should have a good idea as to the pattern. 2YO races are a different beast however, especially with a capacity field. Running line no issues.

PRICE ADVANTAGE HISTORY

Profiteer’s victory as favourite in 2021 came with an 11% price advantage compared to the corporate average.

The last five winners of the race have done so at single digits, indicating good results for favourites.

SPEED MAP

Huge field of 16 with the 4 emergencies, all vying for a $2m prize-pool. They will no doubt go quick here and luck in running might play a part. Amazingly, there aren’t too many that have led in their short careers to date. Open Secret led throughout over 1000m here at Randwick a fortnight ago. Barrier 19 today makes it tough but Lloyd might try and shoot her across. Bellazaine has Tim Clark staying on board and she showed speed in her recent Randwick trial, winning that nicely.

KEY RUNNERS

1. Cobra Club – tracked wide on debut in the Inglis Nursery and fought on well to run a narrow 2nd. Trial at Hawkesbury 20/1 was good and suggests she has improved. Stable have had a horror run of late but might just be starting to turn the corner.

2. Rivellino – dominant winner on debut on the back of nice trials. Trialled well without the blinkers and should improve at his 2nd start but barrier 16 doesn’t help. McDonald trialled on him leading in at Randwick with the horse moving well. McDonald sticks today which will no doubt attract market attention.

3. The Magic Man – Second behind Rivellino two back and has run well again behind Slipper favourite Wodeton, somewhat franking the form. Gets the nice trail from barrier 1 and that gives him a chance to suck up and run a good race. Might need breaks at the right time but in the mix for the minors.

7. Yolo – no luck on debut at Geelong before running well with every chance behind Open Secret. Maher/3rd up is a positive as is gate 7 with other key chances drawn poorly. Didn’t exactly savage the line at 1000m last time but tipping Maher has him peaking today.

9. Within The Law – can’t do much more than win and she’s won both her starts to date in good style including the Inglis Nursery. Closed nicely in a recent trial but gate 18 makes this tricky and more depth in this.

11. Open Secret – nice winner on debut defeating one with wraps on it. Snuck up along the fence and was tough, but as many of the other chances, she draws poorly in 19. Favoured by the rail position and the right lane last start but she beat a nice one and can’t be taken lightly if she gets any luck from that gate.

12. Price Tag – good 1st preparation in the spring followed up with nice trials this time in and a great run behind My Gladiola in the Diamond Preview. She chased a serious filly there and loved her work through the line. The extra 100m suits here. That was an extremely high rating race and it looks the right form coming into this restricted race. She looks the horse to beat.

14. Artistic Venture – closed strongly on debut when few others did and thought her trial was sneakily good at Randwick 28/1. Draws well in 9 and can run a race.

17. Bellazaine – currently 1st emergency but if she gets a run she can run well at double figures, She led and beat home Rivellino in her most recent Randwick trial. Another from the Waterhouse and Bott camp that have been struggling, but no shock if she is the leader here with Clark on from a nice barrier and she can be in this for a long way.

TOP 4 SELECTIONS

12. Price Tag
1. Cobra Club

BACK (WIN) #12 Price Tag

Quite keen on 12 Price Tag here. She looks a nice horse with the right form lines and the one they have to beat. 1100m suits. Follow The Trial Files on the Betfair App and turn on notifications to receive any Late Mail for the race.
