EXPERT RACING TIPS: FLEMINGTON

Best Bets

Jackson Oldham

BACK: 1. VInrock (WIN) for 2 units (Rated at $2.90)

Vinrock was underwhelming to the eye and versus market expectation first-up at Caulfield but 1200m on a tighter turning track just doesn’t seem his go and as mentioned previously, that was a weird spot. Looking at the last 100m data, he ran the 5th-fastest last 200m of the race but the quickest last 100m of the race so I really liked that he was warming up through the line. He goes forward here and back to the scene of his G2 victory last preparation, he should be clear favourite for mine.

LAY: 3. Crossbow (WIN) for 2 units (Rated at $6.00)

I would’ve liked to lay both Crossbow and Just Kick but the latter has blown heavily in early markets so I’ve been left with Crossbow, who although was caught working in the worst ground at The Valley, he brings in only basic form and may be kept safe in the market due to JMac and a track/distance winner two back.

FLEMINGTON PREVIEW AND TIPS | EXPERT TIPS | SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 13TH 2025

RAIL: True TRACK: Good 4

Expecting the track to play perfectly and evenly, a slight edge to being wider for the straight races.

10. She’s An Artist
18. Rich Dottie
8. Tonkin
7. Stoli Bolli

Betting Strategy

She’s An Artist most likely and if you take her expected rating from last start (starting sub $1.40 in a Listed race) then even money looks a gift back to a BM78 but this is a hot, hot race and she comes in off 70-days, Craig Williams back on is a plus.

2. Tycoon Star
3. Legacy Bound
1. Devil Night
5. Mcgaw

Betting Strategy

I’m wary of taking the Tycoon Star race too literally as it was just a weird spot but I have to price him favourite, fit and proven down the straight against Legacy Bound, who is all talent.

1. Vinrock
6. West Of Swindon
10. Fastoso
8. Wise Inlaw

Betting Strategy

BACK: 1. VInrock (WIN) for 2 units (Rated at $2.90)

2. My Gladiola
19. Biologics
18. Amping Lass
5. Steel Trap

Betting Strategy

An impossible race, My Gladiola looks every bit a straight track horse and is drawn the right part of the track, plenty of chances.

1. Rise At Dawn
5. Warnie
6. Pop Award
10. Athanatos

Betting Strategy

Rise At Dawn won at this track and trip first-up last preparation (not taking into account the 63-day freshen in between) he won on a fast tempo in a good race then started $17 in the G1, I love him in this spot when I can poke holes in a few others.

11. Royal Insignia
5. Star Patrol
4. Arkansaw Kid
10. Media World

Betting Strategy

Royal Insignia ran a tremendous race first-up on a wetter deck and in the inferior ground, he can turn the tables on Arkansaw Kid, interested the late Betfair market on Star Patrol who is first-up.

4. Revelare
6. Jennivamoose
7. Mormona
12. Bur Dubai

Betting Strategy

This race will be won and lost to the first turn with the favourite Revelare, if they go forward then he is probably a bet, if they go back he is likely a lay.

1. Mr Brightside
3. Antino
5. Via Sistina
6. Aeliana

Betting Strategy

No speed here, Mr Brightside likely leads and Antino surely lights it up from the 1000m, I can’t imagine Via Sistina will be suited by the race shape from the draw but I couldn’t lay her.

3. Lazzura
7. On Display
6. Abounding
10. Oh Too Good

Betting Strategy

BACK: 3. Lazzura (WIN) for 3 units (Rated at $2.33)

Lazzura was tremendous first-up on a very wet deck in Sydney and the form through that has really stacked up nicely, if she brings that number down here she wins and her second-up run last preparation she beat all bar Lady Shenandoah and Lady Of Camelot. The small knock is wet to dry and travel but I’m happy to trust Waller.

4. Globe
17. Plymouth
15. Cadmus
6. Kingswood

Betting Strategy

Globe the obvious, he was terrific first-up off a very fast speed and maps for every possible favour, tight enough at current quote though.

When you place a lay bet, you are betting on something not to happen. Let’s think about the Melbourne Cup again. Remember: there can only be one winner. But what about the others trailing behind them? If you place a lay bet in a “Win” market, you can celebrate if the runner tails off at the back of the field.
