BETFAIR BEST – TERRY LEIGHTON
Was the run of the day on a heavily leader-bias deck in a race they walked. Draws to land closer to the speed here, rises to her pet trip and gets 6.5kg’s off the leader. You’d think she’d need to get posted deep (which shouldn’t happen) the trip to get beaten here. Will be popular.
BETFAIR BEST – BJ RYAN
Originally wanted to lock in Creator (Race 4) as my Betfair Best, however, with his scratching and the fact that every man and his dog will be declaring Pure Devotion (Race 7 standout), ended up settling on Eliminate in the $100,000 Regional Championship Series (RCS) Final. Displayed metro-grade quality as a three-year-old with Neville Parnham, but was sold to Geraldton-based John Reynolds late last year and has certainly got her groove back on the Crayfish Coast. Qualified for this race with a luckless fifth when resuming in the Geraldton Heat of the RSC and while there’s no doubt she should’ve won the race, it confirmed Reynolds had her on track to peak for the feature Series Final. Eliminate will be suited reuniting with Tash Faithfull (three rides, two wins) and there appears to be enough top-end speed engaged over the 1200 metres for the daughter of Playing God to maintain some rhythm in her likely mid/back map position. From there and providing the track pattern isn’t too leaderish. Eliminate can angle out into the lanes and let down strong enough to cover her rivals late.
