AXIUS was super when resuming for a win at Randwick. How this race map sets up from a speed perspective looks as if it will really suit him as he looks as the key speed influence drawn on the inside. If he gets the soft run, it should give him the chance to control the race from up on speed and be hard to reel in late.

Was keen on the set up KERGUELEN has last time out, but she doesn’t appear to get all the favours in this race as she did last time out. Her better form has come on wet tracks previously, so a drying track here might not suit. Outside of that, we are expecting this track to favour those runners who push forwards and close to the rails, KERGUELEN may have work to do from the wide barrier so this could make her run tough.

In these conditions, this is generally as fair as the Rosehill track can play. There is the potential that the track continues to dry out and improve, if the track gets to a Good rating, perhaps it will be more advantageous to be on speed so monitoring for that improvement.

Tough betting race kicking off. Leant the way of race experience with ALPHARD who could have improvement out of his debut and he maps to be in a strong position in run. PORTOFINO looks the best of the runners on debut, but has to deal with a wide barrier which could make his task tough. SPICE PRAWN looks set to jump as fave after being competitive in some stronger races through her first prep and she has looked handy at recent trials. SAPLING comes into this off a win and maps to be forwards in the run which should suit.

PRETTY TAVI was solid in a similar race to this 1st up when running into the placings and only less than 1L from the winner. She could have some improvement off that run fitter now. HARRY’S BAR is 3rd up and has won the only other time in his prep when 3rd up, he maps in a good position if the track is playing as expected. KILLER KERR has a crack at a stronger race here having won 2 in a row now, she is in good form and has a light weight. DENMAN STAR won well last start and looks suited up slightly in grade.

Looks a competitive betting Highway this weekend. The favourite HIGHWAY STRIP resumes here, he has previously performed well when fresh (3:2-1-0) and maps to be forwards, looks to get the right set up. SHROPSHIRE LAD gets a race fitness advantage and after can bounce back from a disappointing run last start, but has work to do from the wide barrier again. If the track is favouring on speed types, RITZSUN could be the runner who is in the best position in run. PONY SOPRANO is resuming and is 2/2 when 1st up. He can perform well fresh here.

DON’T FORGET JACK has been hitting the line strongly and is in strong form, if he can get a clean run at them from the inside barrier, he should be strong through the line again and suited at this trip. TASORAAY should race on speed and be prominent, he brings in good form lines through recent runs and this sets up well given there isnt much speed in the race. NARBOLD saw out a similar trip to this well last start and with a drop in weight today may be able to go one better. MR VERSE was a winner fresh and has won 2nd up previously. Can be an improver today.

Looks TUILERIES race to loose this 1st up after the strong form she showed through last prep, she has to overcome a wide barrier which could make it tough, but she should have the class to be winning here. DOLLAR MAGIC is dropping in grade here today which could help see her improve. She should be better suited on a track that favours on speed types today. Expecting USAPIN should be an improver fitter 2nd up and up in trip while QUEEN OF THE MILE is another on speed type who looks well suited.

GOOD BANTER & CORMAC T are coming out of the same race where the ran 1st and 2nd. They both again look well set up as this race sets up similar to that last run, GOOD BANTER should prove hard to hold out up in trip. ASSAILANT looks likely to be the leader, if the track suits leaders he could be the one to catch. GENTILESCHI needs to improve to catch the top 2 from last start, but up in trip gives him the best chance to do so.

Have no reason to jump of the red hot STORM THE RAMPARTS who has found a career best level this prep having won 3 of 5 starts this prep and running 2nd in his other 2. No reason to knock his winning form and he again maps to be prominent on speed which sets up well again. He will drop 8.5kgs here and shouldn’t know himself with that weight.

THUNDERLIPS has some ground to make up on ROBUSTO & ESTADIO MESTALLA, but is getting in well at the weights again here and he maps to get run of the race on speed which should suit. ACCREDITED will likely be improved from last start on a dryer track. RUBUSTO has previously found his best form 3rd up into a prep, so looks suited at this point in his prep now while the last start winner of the key form race ESTADIO MESTALLA could certainly go on with it, but the wide barrier make the run tricky.

History
In the early 1880s, founder John Bennett purchased a large block of land in Rosehill with a view to building a racecourse and recreation area. Construction began in 1883 and was completed in 1885, with a private railway line which connects the racecourse to the main line officially opening three years later. Construction costs for the entire site amounted to just over $20,000!
