RANVET STAKES

Always a brilliant race, the 2000m Group 1 Ranvet Stakes. It has been a natural lead up to the Queen Elizabeth with 7 horses completing the double with the latest being Dubai Honour in 2023.
Historically, mares haven’t had the best record in this race but recently the trend has turned with Verry Elleegant, Montefilia, and Via Sistina winning three of the last four.

PRICE ADVANTAGE HISTORY
Via Sistina got up as a short priced favourite last year ($2.37 BSP) with a comparable margin.
Dubai Honour was a little shorter on the exchange than some others in 2023, with Montefilia striking gold in 2022! The $13 BSP netted a 24.1% post commission price advantage over best tote, amounting to about $21 extra for a $10 outlay.
SPEED MAP
Small field and a slow tempo expected. LINDERMANN led the field of 6 last week in the Sky High and can do so again here. GOLDEN PATH looks likely to kick up from barrier 4 and hold a prominent position also. FULL COUNT FELICIA also has a little bit of tactical speed.
RANVET STAKES | FINAL FIELD
Small field but a fascinating race. 6 runners, the highest rated horse in the land in #6 VIA SISTINA against a couple of internationals we know little about in #4 AL MUBHIR and #7 FULL COUNT FELICIA. Then we have the painful #3 LINDERMANN who had every possible chance last week but could only manage third place. All about #6 VIA SISTINA and whether we want to dive in at $1.50. She is clearly the horse to beat here and looks hard to knock. She looked like she needed every bit of the mile last time and looks very much suited to the 2000m here. The knock is the form reference through LINDERMANN who was ordinary last week and the 2 lengths separating the first 6 across the line in the Verry Elleegant Stakes with #5 GOLDEN PATH not beaten all that far.
As mentioned above, William Haggas and Tom Marquand have had success in this race previously with Dubai Honour. While #4 AL MUBHIR doesn’t appear to be at that level, the combination have to be respected when they bring horses to these races. Easy to have this horse marked second favourite without a huge amount of information on how he has settled in.
