Will Norman
I have been involved in racing my whole life. I grew up in the horse capital of Australia (Scone) and my family have always had a strong interest in racing. My father was a bookmaker and through him I learnt a lot of the fundamentals of form assessment/pricing markets from a young age that I still adopt today. I have a Bachelor of Business but my love for racing drew me back into the field post university. I have worked for corporate bookmakers however these days I am just betting with my focus on NSW harness racing. I was always a thoroughbred punter until the last 3-4 years where I switched my focus to Harness Racing. My main attraction to switching predominantly to harness racing was less variables in my opinion compared to thoroughbred racing. To name a couple these include: No rail movements and significantly less track bias. My form and pricing is done from the following in no particular order; Speed Maps (Imperative in all codes but especially Harness Racing), Past Performance (I work heavily off mile rates/sectional data), Horse characteristics (specialising on a certain area allows me to know the individual horses better and the traits/types of runs that horse needs to perform at its best) and who is driving the horse (significant difference in harness racing between the top and bottom level of drivers)Betfair provides the punter with a lot of information when looking at past performances/upcoming races. I research past Betfair SP's/Last Matched Prices regularly to gauge how the market expected for that runner to perform. Betfair's market percentage of been near 100% at race time gives punters a chance to secure great odds consistently and ensures the entire punting landscape is competitive.
