Giving a good EW hope to the resuming VOLARE in this race. She gets a good chance to to break her maiden her considering the strong set up she has. Resuming here with a light weight, should give her a good run out in front over this 1000m sprint trip. If she lands handy in the run, with the light weight she may be hard to reel in late.

Despite HEART OF PLATINUM getting preferable conditions, leaning the way of IN ISO here given the fact he is proven at the staying trip while HEART OF PLATINUM takes a considerable jump up in trip today while IN ISO last start produced the fastest rated L600m of any runner in this race. BOLD SPLENDOR produced strong closing sectionals last start and sticks at a staying trip here which suits. STRAIGHT THROUGH was an impressive winner last start and now needs to take a step up in grade, the key for him here today will be the race map, he looks likely to lead and could control the tempo of this race.

Competitive betting race here, but given how this race maps, the runner I am happy to be risking is WITHSTAND. He is a runner who doesn’t have the same amount of early speed such as other runners MR DAMAGE & TOOMUCHINFORMATION, both of these runners drawn on each side of WITHSTAND. If WITHSTAND is slightly slow away, he may find himself shuffled back a few pairs and really sweating on some luck in the late stages of the race over this sharp 1000m trip.

SHW EM HOWL looks the stand out runner of this race as the current favourite. She is dropping in grade after 2 handy runs at metro level in his last 2 starts and now this is considerably easier. Looks the one to beat, but not a appealing betting proposition. POCKET EIGHTS is another runner coming back in grade today, if the track is down graded to a heavy, he could be perfectly set up. ALL TOO ROSEY looks the key speed influence of the race and may get to control the race tempo. ALBANIAN STAR makes her debut for a new stable after some solid performances back in Victoria. Give her a chance but she may need some luck from the wide barrier.

SPIRITLY needs to take a step up in level now after a last start win when dropping in grade, drawn well so expect he will be prominent. CATS QUARTERS doesn’t win often, but will be suited if it is favourable to be on speed. OAKFIELD ECHIDNA is in good form this prep but may need luck from the wide barrier.
