A strong Northerly wind makes things tricky, it’s a tailwind from the chute start, so expect on-speed is a very strong advantage from the 1000m start, on-speed but maybe with a bit of cover A1 for the circle races.

The market has adjusted to have this a two-horse race and I would tend to agree. Proficient has jumped out extremely sharply and likely leads and takes running down. Act Natural is solid as a rock, gets blinkers and a low draw.

LAY: 5. Jaguar Paw (WIN) for 2 units (Rated at $4.75)
Jaguar Paw sprinted for only 150m once clear on debut at Bendigo off a very slow tempo. He hit the line very well but will now likely be put into the race, rising up sharply in distance and that is a poor platform for success.

Enamorada couldn’t have been anymore impressive on debut, the splits were very strong off a slow speed but not good enough to price her odds-on, up sharply in grade. Her winning and winning well wouldn’t shock in the slightest but I can’t find any betting edge.

BACK: 5. Acta Non Verba (WIN) for 2 units (Rated at $3.00)
Acta Non Verba won well at Seymour last start and the second horse from that race improved its rating to win well at Mornington on Sunday. He maps to control the race from the front and gets in under the minimum with 52kg.

The last start victory of Zambardo was full of merit, making a 600m looping run off a fast tempo, it’s a short price to trust him to hold that rating though. Seethru should control the race from the front, interesting to see how much impact the wind is having by this point in the meeting.

Both favourites, Steel Trap and Bronte Beach were both very poor first-up when in the market in harder races, not my kind of race this one.

Male Model has the most talent of any horse in the race, I really like the female apprentice on board, it means she likely won’t be able to hold him and hopefully just lets him stride in his own rhythm.
