Saturday 24 July

Racing Saturday is at Morphettville on the main track. The rail is out 12m from the 1200m to the WP and 8m the remainder. The track is currently rated a Heavy 8 but with fair rain forecast for Saturday morning, there is a good chance of it being worse than that.

The Hickmott runners look to be the pace here with Peloton and Unlaced likely to roll forward. Perfect Command is another that normally races forward but I’d think it will be happy sitting just off the pace over this trip.

The Dec should also settle handy. The Dec comes off a win at Geelong win in a BM 64 at only its 4th race start. Providing it handles the conditions, it looks to be clearly 1st pick and hard to beat.

BACK (WIN) — The Dec for 3.5 units at $3.00+

Speed here looks to be Usain Bowler, Pindaric and Sir Kalahad.

Pindaric the obvious bet but a fraction too short for me to be able to back.

Aiguilette ran 2nd to Pindaric last start at Murray Bridge on a Soft 6. Unknown on anything worse than that but providing it handles the conditions, it can be in the finish.

 Betting Strategy

BACK (EW) — Aiguilette for 1 unit each way at $10.00+

Some of the speed has come out of the race with the scratchings of Great Leveller and Longduan. Old Time Rock, Redneck Prince and Eightballsidepocket should all go forward and Heroic can also race forward.

Scenic Host comes off a dominant win on a heavy track at Bordertown. Finds a suitable race. Miss Muccini was only fair 1st up last start but can improve.

 Betting Strategy

BACK (EW) — Scenic Host for 1.5 units each way at $9.00+

Only speed here looks to be Campobasso. It looks a certain leader and will relish the genuine Heavy conditions after running 3rd last start on a track I rated as a Soft 7.

Have been waiting for Melody Man to step up in distance and the 1800m looks ideal. It ran really well 1st up over 1400m then was ok again over the same trip 2nd up. Providing it handles the conditions is should be winning.

 Betting Strategy

BACK (WIN) — Melody Man for 3.5 units at $2.80+

BACK (WIN) — Campobasso for 0.5 units at $8.00+
