FEATURE PREVIEWS: VINERY STUD STAKES

VINERY STUD STAKES

Group 1 | 3YO Fillies | $750,000 | Rail: +5m | Track Conditions: Soft – Heavy

Group 1 for the 3YO staying fillies, run over 2000m. The VRC Oaks in the Spring has been a brilliant form reference in recent years. The New Zealanders have come to the fore in the last couple of years with the Roger James and Robert Wellwood trained horses Orchestral and Prowess getting the job job. Fangirl won it back in 2022.

Rail out 5m for this meeting after it being in the 3m position last Saturday. That meeting last Saturday was very much favouring those that found the fence in run. Hoping for a more even track this Saturday. The rain forecast will have the biggest impact. 15-60mm forecast on Saturday and 1-10mm Friday. We will be on a wet track but to what extent? Very tricky to predict.

PRICE ADVANTAGE HISTORY

Orchestral was the strong favourite in 2024, with the $1.73 BSP victory coming on parity with the corporate average.

It was a similar story with Prowess in 2023, with the $2.14 victory.

Fangirl was the last “non favourite” to win in 2022, with the $7.29 BSP a healthy 9% higher than best tote post commission.

SPEED PREVIEW

Another race with little speed but all of these are up to the 2000m. While TREASURETHE MOMENT isn’t a natural leader, she may just land in front here. CANNY QUEEN can kick up from an inside barrier. No shock to see ELLA HAZEL up there also.

VINERY STUD STAKES | RACE PREVIEW

All about #1 TREASURETHE MOMENT. We are her biggest fan but do we want to dive in at that price? First time in Sydney, potentially first time on a Heavy. No. Do we think she will win. Yes.

#7 VERONA ROSE might be the quinella horse. Incredible win last start at Kembla over a mile. Back from a wide barrier, and charged off an even tempo to run the fourth fastest final 400m of the day, and her 11.22 was the second fastest final 200m of the day. Only bettered by a horse in a 120m race.

#5 DECLICHY BOULEVARD was good last start and was well fancied in betting. She has a win on a Heavy track which is a bonus. McDonald off and he rides the stablemate #2 MOVIN OUT who ties in and wasn’t beaten far. This filly from NZ has upside and will be fitter for the good first up run. No shock if she turns the tables.
