BACK: 1. Brave Star (WIN) for 2 units @
Brave Star hasn’t struck a race this easy in a while. Form has been disappointing at metro level but hasn’t been suited by the Good tracks. This horse loves the soft/heavy conditions so gets his chance here to recapture what we know his best form can be. Worked through the line OK last time out from well back for 3L 8th. Draws well here and a clear drop in class. Supreme Thunder is coming off a strong win at this track/distance last time out. Is up from BM56 to BM64 level but is proven here. The horse drops 2kg in weight and Opperman sticks the ride. Rarely runs a bad race. Wild Willy had a few excuses at metro level last time out when raced wide then held up for room at times in the straight. Ran 3.2L 7th but couldn’t really get a guide on the performance. Back to mi-week level here and dropping back in trip should be no issues. Murtagh a good booking. Whiskey Hangover was pretty plain last start when knuckling the start but mustered to be mid-field. Knocked up late. Forgive that. The horse is 1/1 here at Mount Gambier so expecting a bounce back run now the horse is four runs deep into the prep. Draws softly in gate 1.

MOUNT GAMBIER PREVIEW AND TIPS | EXPERT TIPS | WEDNESDAY JUNE 11TH 2025
RAIL: +4m 1500m – 400m, True Remainder TRACK: Heavy 8
1. Golden Mikki
4. Starcho Libre
9. Sierra Blanca
5. Break The Taboo
Betting Strategy
BACK: 1. Golden Mikki (WIN) for 2 units
Forget Golden Mikki went around 2nd up when blocked and hampered the entire length of the straight at Geelong. Will probably find this easier and prior form was very good. Trainer placed them well across the border. Starcho Libre is on debut here and looked good at his first trial. Was scratched at the gates after playing up in the barriers and was forced to trial in between where he just poked around. The Justin Pickering yard is on fire so expect a good showing here. Sierra Blanca must be respected on debut here. Jumped out very well and Tom Dabernig has a lethal strike rate when he jumps the border to SA. Break The Taboo is first up for the Travis Doudle yard and looked good in a 600m jump out. Watch any positive betting moves.
8. Layin Up
12. Triple Oh (SCR)
3. Jandami
6. Tudaya
Betting Strategy
Not a bad little MDN this. Layin Up was heavily supported at Murray Bridge over the 1200m when she raced in patches and couldn’t quicken in the straight. Picked up when it was all over for 1.6L 3rd. Will be fitter for that and is clearly looking for this extra distance. Triple Oh resumes from a spell and had a good S.P profile last prep. Had excuses in both career runs and has had a 1400m jump out on the heavy so the horse will be fit enough to fire fresh. Always respect the Dabernig stable. Jandami looks a talented type who likes to get back and charge at the finish. Will have to navigate a wide gate here but the way Mount Gambier plays you can swoop from well back. NZ bred so will have no issues with the heavy track. Tudaya comes across from the astute Peter Chow stable and looks primed for this after an excellent first up 3rd at Hamilton. Strips fitter and proven over the 1400m trip.
7. Aquaholic
2. Thisismyturf
1. Miso
3. Quick Rhapid
Betting Strategy
Aquaholic drops back from a strong Adelaide metro race where he has put together two really good runs behind the talented pair of Out Of Square and Tripod Terror. This looks easier and the horse is a winner 3rd up in the past. Draws well here. Thisismyturf got well back from the bad gate last start but caught the eye late for 1.1L 4th. Respect that form. Draws for a softer run in transit here. Miso was OK first up at Moonee Valley when 6th after going back from the wide gate and worked home OK. Draws softer here and will find this easier. Claims helps the cause and is a winner at Mount Gambier in the past. Quick Rhapid was a strong on pace winner last time out at Penola. The horse has a good record here and excels over this trip. Handles all conditions. Can win again.
1. Gopher Frank
5. The Kill Club
3. Bangholme (SCR)
6. Artissi
Betting Strategy
Gopher Frank loves racing here over the short course with a 2/2 track and distance record. Resumes from a spell and won fresh last campaign after a tough run in transit. Drops back from a BM70 metro race to a BM56 and is suited by the claim for Brooke King. Should fire fresh. The Kill Club is another coming off a track/distance win here in MDN company last time out. That win rated well as he ran 2L faster than the BM56 race on the same day. 3 starts for a win and two seconds in the career and all have been at Mount Gambier. Can win again. Bangholme was that BM56 900m winner last time out when raced on speed and kicked away at the dog leg for a gutsy win. Is 1/1 at the track and distance and never missed a place here. Teagan Vorrham rides the horse well. Artissi got a long way back from the bad barrier and was OK late for 3rd behind Bangholme last time out. Draws for a much softer/closer run in transit. Can improve sharply.
7. Zibulon (SCR)
10. Initial Moment (SCR)
5. They Call Me Dusty
2. Menace To Sobriety
Betting Strategy
No bet race with my top two selections coming out this morning.
They Call Me Dusty might be worth forgiving last start having his first try over the staying distance but was caught three wide the trip and only boxed on for 3L 6th. Draws to receive a much softer run in transit. Can bounce back. Menace To Sobriety is forever around the mark in these types of staying races. Was poor at Balaklava last start but has finished 2nd his only start here at Mount Gambier. Should enjoy the cut out the ground here.

3. Two Kay Klick
5. Vee Rod
7. Heidi Hedi Ho
8. Smashing Action
Betting Strategy
Two Kay Click was very stiff last start when held up badly the entire length of the straight over this track and trip last time out. Complete forgive The horse loves racing here and never puts in a bad performance. Draws gate 1 here and will just need even luck at some stage and he should be going very close here. Vee Rod is first up since crossing from the Richards/Moyle stable to Nicole Irwin. She has a knack of getting these tried horses going early. This horse loves the soft/heavy conditions and has never missed a place on a heavy in 6 attempts. Expecting a good showing fresh here and draws for an easy run in transit. Heidi Heido Ho resumes from a spell and put in some good performances last preparation. She has placed first up in the past and is bred to handle the tough conditions. Has a great S.P profile last time in work. Smashing Action is on the 7 day back up after failing at Balaklava when in the market. Forgive that and follow up here. The stable are absolutely flying.
