Speed Map

Above average speed expected here with Front Page rushing to the front, and Asfoora sitting outside him.

Imperatriz & Star Patrol should be sitting just behind them.

Ce’st Magique, Airman & Bella Nipotina midfield.

In Secret, Lofty Strike, Espiona & Buenos Noches out the back.

Key Chances

2. Buenos Noches – Is 4th up coming off a last start Everest run which is an ideal prep for this. Has won a Listed race down the straight, run 2nd beaten a nose by Giga Kick at G2 level, 3rd in a G1 Coolmore, beaten 2L in a Lightning and 3L in a Newmarket. Can win.

5. Airman – Is on an upwards ratings spiral. Is a gelding, 4th up here. Was a big run last start when wide no cover on a leader/rails biased track, and ran 2nd beating home Bella Nipotina. Winner I Am Me ran 2nd to Imperatriz last start, after missing the start. Can figure.

6. Bella Nipotina – Has been racing in great form all prep. Won at Rosehill last start beating Private Eye & Think About It. Has run some close placings at G1 level down the straight. Barrier 1 not ideal.

7. In Secret – Hit the line well for 4th in The Everest last start (best closing sectionals of the race), and comes into this 4th up. Two starts over this track/distance for 2 wins, both at G1 level.

8. Imperatriz – Done little wrong in 2023 with 8 starts for 7 wins and a head 2nd. Won past two comfortably at G1 level. First run down the Flemington straight.

Top 4

1. 7 – In Secret
2. 8 – Imperatriz
3. 9 – Bella Nipotina
4. 2 – Buenos Noches
5. 5 – Airman

Looks to be 5 key chances here.

I’m backing In Secret to upset Imperatriz here. In Secret is set to peak, and loves the straight whilst Imperatriz is having her first run down the straight.

Bella Nipotina is drawn barrier 1 which I never like down the straight. But she is very talented and capable of winning.

Buenos Noches & Airman the knockouts.
