Magic Time won this race last year, becoming the 10th filly/mare to win this race since 2000. English was the previous filly back in 2016.

7 of the last 9 winners have come through the TJ Smith in what is quite a dominant form guide.

PRICE ADVANTAGE HISTORY

Magic Time saluted last year at the healthy price of $7.49, which was 2.2% higher than best tote post commission.

Giga Kick was the star in 2023, at $2.89 which was on parity with the competition.

Cascadian was the blowout winner at $11.55 in 2022, again on relative parity.

SPEED MAP

Interesting speed map and not a lot of speed on paper which is a surprise for this calibre of horse. BELCLARE has led successfully here in Australia. She went right back from a wide barrier in New Zealand last start but showed speed winning a Rosehill trial since. Her best hope would be to lead and she does get the chance to do so again. MAGIC TIME will be handy. BROADSIDING is 4 weeks between runs, right back in distance, but draws perfectly in barrier 3. Doubt McDonald will want to get too far back. MY OBERON fresh from a wide draw. ANTINO from 1.

ALL AGED STAKES | RACE PREVIEW

We were with #2 BRIASA in the TJ Smith and no reason to jump off. Back and wide first up off fence and one of the runs of the day. Proved that was no fluke last time, winning impressively. 1400m should prove no issue off that third up today and what he did in the Group 2, $1M The  Hunter in the Spring fills us with confidence about the distance. Maps perfectly again here. Meets his 5 dangers through that race the same at the weights. #4 JIMMYSTAR was the best of the closers, savaging the line when in the clear, running the fastest late sectionals of the race and day. Also loved the run of #11 KIMOCHI who was wide throughout, no cover. Kept coming and still ran the third fastest final 200m of the race. Huge rating in the Rupert Clarke when charged home to win that Group 1 over 1400m, beating Another Wil.

#1 ANTINO has been off the scene for a while now but is a scary horse. His Toorak rating, while over 1600m, was incredible and a repeat of that would see him just about win any race in this distance range.

Feel #14 BROADSIDING will be too dour at the 1400m, despite the 4 week freshen. Barrier may be a positive if he can be close enough but also could be a negative.

#10 JOLIESTAR has class. As does #9 MAGIC TIME.
