EXPERT RACING TIPS: AINTREE

AINTREE PREVIEW AND TIPS | EXPERT TIPS | SATURDAY APRIL 5TH 2025

TRACK: Good to soft

Still favouring those who like some zip on the flat and the big mudders who land heavily over the obstacles continue to struggle compared to the more nimble types.

2. Jeriko Du Reponet
12. Timmy Tuesday
17. Double Powerful
18. Jipcot

Betting Strategy

BACK: 2. Jeriko Du Reponet (WIN) for 2 units (Rated at $4.00)

JDR narrowly missed out at Cheltenham but the tweak in headgear seems to have sparked him into life. A small hike in the weights might not be enough to hold him out with the writing he put on the wall last month. He should be a clear favourite.

BACK: 12. Timmy Tuesday (WIN) for 1 unit (Rated at $5.50)

I have Timmy Tuesday as a clear second fave and ready to exploit any weakness from JDR, and this progressive sort looks sure to thrive going anticlockwise once more. The good ground will also be in his favour and operates off a more than workable handicap mark.

12. Lulamba
6. Horaces Pearl
8. Koktail Divin
2. Fingle Bridge

Betting Strategy

BACK: 12. Lulamba (WIN) for 5 units (Rated at $1.60)

LULAMBA was nailed on the line at Cheltenham by one with rapid flat form and the trio fighting out the finish looked a class above the rest. The other two miss this, and Mullins should be scalping yet another prize with this promising sort provided he steers clear of any inconveniences along the way.

10. Doctor Ken
2. Imperial Saint
1. Sam Brown
6. Richmond Lake

Betting Strategy

Not getting involved here.

12. The Wallpark
7. Kitzbuhel
11. Teahupoo
6. Home By The Lee

Betting Strategy

BACK: 12. The Wallpark (WIN AND PLACE) for 1 unit (Rated at $6.50)

There could be loads more improvement to come from The Wallpark who was hampered at Cheltenham and couldn’t build into the race as smoothly as he liked. Aintree may prove to be his kind of track.

BACK: 12. The Wallpark (WIN AND PLACE) for 1 unit (Rated at $6.50)

There could be loads more improvement to come from The Wallpark who was hampered at Cheltenham and couldn’t build into the race as smoothly as he liked. Aintree may prove to be his kind of track.

BACK: 7. Kitzbuhel (WIN) for 2 units (Rated at $4.00)

Kitzbuhel has looked smart since moving to Willie Mullins from France. Looks like good ground is in his wheelhouse whilst Teahupoo wants it bottomless and for that reason I have him ahead of the favourite.

8. Minella Cocooner
5. Hewick
16. Perceval Legallois
10. Stumptown

Betting Strategy

BACK: 8. Minella Cocooner (WIN) for 1 unit

MINELLA COCOONER has run in the top two on 6 occasions when running on good to soft ground. Should get ideal conditions here.

BACK: 5. Hewick (WIN) for 1 unit

The key to HEWICK is the ground. He just doesn’t go on soggy decks and this should bring out his best.

BACK: 16. Perceval Legallois (WIN) for 1 unit

PERCEVAL LEGALLOIS is one of the best handicapped horses in this field and is in fine form, as is the stable.

BACK: 10. Stumptown (WIN) for 1 unit

STUMPTOWN keeps thriving on the cross country chasing circuit and gets similar conditions to Cheltenham to be most effective here.

3. L’eau du Sud
2. Kalif du Berlais
6. Only By Night
5. Touch me not

Betting Strategy

Too similar in price, no competitive edge.

15. Scope To Improve
12. Le Labo
13. Mossy Fen Road
14. Quaviste

Betting Strategy

BACK: 15. Scope To Improve (WIN) for 1 unit (Rated at $7.50)

SCOPE TO IMPROVE has exactly that, coming from the back of the pack through traffic to record a smart success at Naas and has a strong claim to take this out.

BACK: 12. Le Labo (WIN) for 1 unit (Rated at $6.50)

Raw and inexperienced but much too good on debut in a big field with ample upside. Joseph O’Brien hasn’t had many runners in the bumper sphere let alone sending one over the sea to Britain so he’s definitely of note and can hopefully build on the promise shown.
