EXPERT AFL TIPS: ROUND 6

The Crows got their mojo back last week after an 0-4 start. Adelaide scored 100+ points last week, the first time they have reached triple figures this season. They are back to the high scoring side we saw that almost made finals in 2023 with a strong win against top-4 hopefuls Carlton at Marvel Stadium.

Adelaide is a significantly better side at home compared to away. Since the start of 2023, 9 of Adelaide’s 12 wins have taken place at Adelaide Oval.

Port Adelaide have started strongly this season with 4 wins in their 5 starts and will be hoping to snap a losing streak against the reigning Premiers in Collingwood. The Power have lost their last 3 against Collingwood, which included 2 losses by a goal or less.

The Power will hold no fears playing at the MCG, winning their last 3 at the venue.

Collingwood had a shaky opening to their season with 3 losses on the trot, and looked unconvincing with a 5-point win against the 17^th placed Hawthorn. Expecting another tight contest between these two sides hoping to make finals again this season.

Two of last year’s Preliminary Finalist have secured early wins, but won’t be happy with their performances on the weekend, with GWS only winning by a single point and Carlton losing by two.

Carlton have been getting in the habit of playing in tightly contested matches, with 6 of their last 8 matches being decided by 10 points or less.

In 2 of the last 3 matches GWS played at Marvel Stadium, the game has been decided by 15 points or less.

Brisbane have definitely improved in the last fortnight with an easy win against North Melbourne and a monumental win against Melbourne at the MCG. They will have their work cut out for them against the 5-0 Cats.

The Gabba isn’t the fortress for the Lions as it has been in previous years, losing both home games this season after being undefeated at the venue in 2023.

Geelong have covered the line in 4 of their last 6 matches as underdog, including the last time they played against the Lions.

Geelong have won 5 of their last 7 matches against the Lions.

Fremantle’s defense first mentality and lack of fire power up forward has led them to become the team with the lowest scoring matches in the AFL. In the last 3 weeks, matches involving the Dockers have averaged 122 total match points.

Fremantle matches have gone under the total 4 out of 5 occasions this season.

West Coast have found a way to score and look a much better side in the last fortnight with both games going overs. However, their total match points only averages at 161 points which is under the current total.

Gold Coast will be happy with their 3-2 start to the season; however, they are yet to win an interstate match, a part of their game they will need to improve if they wish to play finals for the first time in their history.

Sydney will be well rested after their much-needed bye. The last two matches were wake up calls for the Swans who barely scraped past West Coast and were held up and pressured hard in their loss to the Tigers. Expect them to be back to their energetic best that saw them defeat Collingwood, Melbourne and Essendon in the first 3 rounds.

The Swans have won 3 of their last 4 matches against Gold Coast after a few seasons of the Suns being their bogey team.

Sam Mitchell is yet to lose to North Melbourne as head coach, with Hawthorn winning their last 4 matches against the Kangaroos by an average margin of 33.25 points.

North Melbourne have lost all 5 games to start the season by an average margin of 53 points, with their backline leaking plenty of goals- conceding 122 points per game. With Mitch Lewis a chance to return for Hawthorn, that could be the edge to give the Hawks their first win of the season.
