Around 7mm rain forecast for the rest of the week. Minimal rain at the back end of the week, so despite being wet the Randwick track should play well.

Plenty of speed here with Knights Order, Sir Lucan and Nerve Not Verve all pushing to lead.

Gin Martini, King Frankel, Stockman, Torrens and Alakahan like to be forward.

True Marvel, Timour and Surefire will also likely be forward of midfield in this big field.

The rest are strung out the back.

1. Gold Trip – Melbourne Cup winner who also beaten a head in the Caulfield Cup. Slashing first-up run at Group 2 level for second beaten 0.5 lengths, then track perhaps too firm for him past couple of starts at Rosehill. Bigger Randwick track and softer ground brings him right into this, but 59.5kg is a big weight.

3. Baron Samedi – Has won past 3200m at Group 2 level and trained by Joseph O’Brien. Loves wet going and is in solid form. Rates higher than race favourite Cleveland on overseas form.

7. Surefire – Won the Chairman’s last week, which regularly produces the Cup winner. Joao Moreira stays aboard.

11. Cleveland – European stayer trained by Joseph O’Brien. Has won over 3749m and run second at Group 3 level beaten a neck over 2414m. Hit the line well for fifth in the Tancred Stakes last start. Bigger track and damper conditions will assist. The imports have proven a class above ours in staying races.

12. High Emocean – Finished home strongly for fourth last week in the Chairman’s. Ran third in the Melbourne Cup off the quick backup last year.

15. Nerve Not Verve – A model of consistency with placings at her last three starts including the Auckland Cup and Chairman’s. In the mix again.

16. Gin Martini – Has won over 2 miles before and ran second in the Chairman’s last week. In the mix.

3 – Baron Samedi
12 – High Emocean
11 – Cleveland
1 – Gold Trip
