Lachlan Mosley
BACK: 4. Now East (WIN) for 5 units
Now East looks like the one here. Had long odds specking first up and really toughed it out to the line for a narrow 3rd behind From The Block. That horse has since come out and won by 9L at Balaklava and looks destined for big things. Will strip fitter and Opperman sticks the ride. Handles the heavy. Fast Tempo was hard in the market first up but was only OK for 4L 6th. Will take benefit for the run and is bred to get through the conditions. Respect S.P profile. Mangalica and She’s The Rumour looks best of the rest in a really ordinary field.

3. Geetee Forty
1. Always Bold
6. Coorong Tycoon
2. Irlandais
Betting Strategy
No bet race. Geetee Forty didn’t have the best of times last start when slow out and was coming with a run but was checked in the straight but was no match for a dominant Donam. Finished 3rd but should have been a bit closer at the end. Likes heavy tracks and has good stats at Gawler. Always Bold finished a gallant 2nd in that race and had a sweet run in transit. There was long odds specking for him that day and that almost proved correct. Should go close here and likes heavy tracks. Coorong Tycoon had excuses at Bordertown when over-raced and was blocked for runs in the straight. Forgive that and the blinkers come off here. Irlandis is a long time MDN galloper with 15 starts and yet to break through. Was met with good market support last time out and caught the eye for 2nd at Bordertown. Extra trip suits and handles the heavy.
4. Halliwell
6. Perilous Lass
5. Kiss And Kaboom
2. Me Names Harry
Betting Strategy
Halliwell looks very close to a win and really caught the eye late at Mount Gambier over the 900m scamper. Steps back up to the 1200m trip and handles the heavy conditions. Gets a really good chance to breakthrough here. Perilous Lass and Kiss and Kaboom both got home nicely for 2nd and 3rd respectively at this track and distance but were no match for a dominant Koratora. They cleared out from the rest of the pack. Both draw well and hard to see them not in the numbers again. My Name’s Harry has had too many chances to put on top but still should run a respectable race. Looks the best of the rest in a field that lacks depth.

5. All Too Mysti
8. Hot Strut
9. Ballistique
4. Wally West
Betting Strategy
Pretty good race this with lots of horses with decent metro performances. All Too Mysti will appreciate the drop back from metro level here. Has been performing OK in the City without threatening. This is the easiest race she’s seen in a while and bred by All Too Hard so the heavy conditions suit. Hasn’t seen a race this easy since probably the debut. Hot Strut is a MDN jumping into a class 1 race here but the way he destroyed them first up by 5L at Balaklava last Wednesday suggests she’s come back a different mare this prep. Can go close again. Ballistique is fresh here and is first up for the new stable in Matthew Seyers. She took on Listed level but came up short last start before a break. Previous metro form is excellent. Draws well here and is 1/1 fresh. Wally West is 1 win from 25 starts but that win was on a heavy track and gets that here. He always runs an honest race and draws well here.
2. Babayka
6. Justica’s Bonus
1. Cool The Jets
7. Quanah
Betting Strategy
BACK: 2. Babayka (WIN & PLACE) for 2 units
Probably the most even race of the day. Babayka drops back from metro level where he has been defying the bookies’ prices with close up efforts at $21 and $71 respectively. Has a great record at this distance and never missed a place on a heavy track in three attempts. Gets some nice weight relief with the 2kg claim for Caitlin Tootell. Deserves to breakthrough back in grade. Justica’s Bonus ran a really nice 2nd last start at Murray Bridge. Just peaked in the last 50m and was grabbed on the line. 2nd up form is very good as is track and heavy. Ticks a few boxes and well weighted with the claim. Cool The Jets is racing in great heart this prep and is coming off a last start win at Donald. Can win again if he can carry the weight. Quanah will appreciate the drop back from metro level. Just been torching it too quick up-front and knocking up. Is 1/1 at the track/distance and 2/2 on heavy surfaces. Might improve.
6. Ammo Amor
1. Enciphering
3. Flying Assassin
5. Moana’s Fortune
Betting Strategy
BACK: 6. Ammo Amor (WIN & PLACE) for 2 units @
No bet race. Very even staying contest this. Ammor Amor is a huge class dropper here coming back from a disappointing effort in a strong BM78 where the horse was backed off the map but failed over the 2400m. Been given a 5 week freshen for this and gets the services of Jake Toeroek. Hasn’t seen a race this easy in a long time. Goes well here at Gawler and loves the cut out the track. Enciphering is another who goes well here with a win and a third from two attempts. Was only fair at Bordertown last start on a tricky day but gets back to his favourite track and enjoys the cut out. 3kg claim helps with the big weight. Flying Assassin has bounced back into form with two stylish wins in a row. He’s very well placed to make it a hattrick with the soft barrier and is in very smartly with the 4kg claim. Moanas Fortune was a dominant 6L MDN winner here two back before being run off her legs by Silent Emmy at Bordertown. Still stuck on well for 3rd. Back to a track and weather conditions that we know she excels in.
14. Intacto
8. Robert The Puss
13. Loca Bella
2. Its Bruce
Betting Strategy
BACK: 14. Intacto (WIN & PLACE) for 2 units
If you ignore Intacto’s last run on the pesky Port Augusta dirt track then the horse cleary warrants selection here. Has been flying since joining the Garrett Lynch stable and previous three runs were a excellent without winning. Handles Gawler and wet tracks. Will be flying home late. Robert The Puss is racing very consistently of late and got a well deserved win at this track last time out. Draws poorly but later in the day on a heavy track that might be the place to be. Loca Bella did a few things wrong last time out but did get through the line well for 4th over the 1200m trip. Gives the impression that the 1500m suits now and Jason Holder sticks the ride. It’s Bruce didn’t handle the kick back of the synthetic last time out so that can be forgiven. Previous runs at metro level were very good. Drops in grade and can figure.
