Royal Randwick is located in Sydney\u2019s Eastern Suburbs, and like Rosehill the racecourse is operated by the Australian Turf Club (ATC). Randwick hosts 20 time-honoured Group 1s each year but today its biggest raceday is The Everest, which at $15 million is the world\u2019s richest turf race. History<\/b><\/p>\n

The site was first designated for use as a racecourse in January 1883, with a private raceday held there six months later. For 20 years between 1840 and 1860, the racecourse was only used as a training facility but racing resumed in May 1860 with a crowd of more than 6,000 in attendance. The ATC assumed control of Randwick in 2011, when the Australian Jockey Club and the Sydney Turf Club merged to form a new body.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
