In 2021 the Brisbane Lions finished first but went out in straight sets, and in 2022 the Geelong Cats finished on top and would go on to win the Grand Final. Most recently Collingwood finished first in 2023 before going on to win the Grand Final.<\/p>\n<p>Ladder positions are extremely important in the AFL, as they determine which teams will qualify for the finals. The top eight teams on the ladder at the end of the regular season advance to the finals, where they compete for the right to play in the Grand Final.
