THE EAGLE’S BLACKBOOK | CAULFIELD | SATURDAY 13 AUGUST 2022

Race 6 |  #4 Imlovinya

Three-year-old filly trained by Price & Kent Jnr. Two jumpouts to resume.

Latest:

Cranbourne – 800m – 01/08 – Slow out circled the field to finish 3rd behind two smart 3YO’s in fast time.

Habit of being slow out could be costly on race-day. She’s jumped out superbly on two occasions. Talindert winner before the break and has trained on judging by her lead-in work.

Race 8 | #9 Uncle Bryn

Five-year-old gelding trained by Busuttin & Young. One jumpout to resume.

Cranbourne – 1000m – 01/08 – Back last off a moderate tempo and sprinted quickly weaving runs through the field to finish in 2nd.

Excellent jumpout. From my experience with the stable, when they go to the races off one jumpout or trial they generally run well. He’s up against it in the ratings and will need luck from the back. Ben Melham a key rider booking.

THE EAGLE’S BLACKBOOK | SANDOWN | WEDNESDAY 27 JULY 2022

RACE 3 | #4 Ellen’s Licence

3YO filly trained by Patrick Payne. One mid-prep jumpout.

Burrumbeet – 1000m – 21/07 – Jumped ok, settled near the tail, given a quiet time to the line finishing back in the field.

Debut winner running good time on the day, took plenty of riding over 1200m and so the extra furlong suits 2nd up with the 1000m trial in between runs.

RACE 7 | #2 Love Planet

4YO gelding trained by Chris Waller. Three jumpouts to resume.

Latest:

Werribee – 1100m – 22/07 – Went forward from the draw, held the rail and travelled beautifully throughout to run a narrow 2nd.

Good fresh horse resuming, late scratching at Flemington recently and back to the jumpouts again, so would think he’s fit enough to be competitive at the 1400m first-up however his best form is on dry ground to date.

THE EAGLE’S BLACKBOOK | CAULFIELD | SATURDAY 23 JULY 2022

Race 6 | #8 Sandy Prince

3YO gelding trained by Ben & JD Hayes. Two jumpouts to resume.

Flemington – 800m – 15/07 – Led early mouth open wanting to go quicker, relaxed better in the straight and had the better of the speedy JILLETTE narrowly but with a bit in hand.

Jumpouts suggest he’s ready to go early in the prep, drawn wide on Saturday if he gets across without too much effort he should be in the finish.

Race 7 | #3 Snapped

3YO filly trained by A & S Freedman. Two jumpouts to resume.

Mornington – 900m – 13/07 – Given time to balance up, bit fresh and keen behind runners (normal for her) and once clicked up in the straight did it easily to the line to win.

Smart filly who’s had a near faultless career to date, she can run time and race handy, expect she’ll measure up in better company.

THE EAGLE’S BLACKBOOK | SANDOWN | WEDNESDAY 20 JULY 2022

RACE 5 | #3 FIRE

Three-year-old gelding trained by Team Hawkes. Two jump-outs to resume.

Latest

Flemington – 800m – 15/07 – Fast out and restrained, then sat off leading pair and poked through late under a tight rein to win.

Only one run last campaign. Jumped out twice; the first with Juilen Welsh at Cranbourne and given a soft one, then right back to his standard in the latest.

Track and trip winner last prep when fresh. If right, he’ll be hard to beat.

RACE 8 |  #9 JONTY

Four-year-old gelding trained by Jason Warren & Dean Krongold. One mid-prep jumpout.

Mornington – 900m – 13/07 – Jumped OK, ridden along to hold a spot. Settled off speed and finished hard late in the straight.

A revelation on wet tracks. How he handles a step up in grade with blinkers coming off is the query. The jump out suggests he may be ridden quieter. Watching for any change of tactics.

THE EAGLE’S BLACKBOOK | FLEMINGTON | SATURDAY 16 JULY 2022

Race 1 | #2 Giga Kick

2YO gelding trained by Grahame Begg. One jumpout & trial.

Latest:

Cranbourne – 800m – 04/07 – Went forward early tracked a wide path and looked to tire late winning the heat narrowly. Time was fast.

Professional 2YO who has looked better on top of the ground, heavy at Flemington better than most tracks and will do everything right in the run with tactical speed.

Race 6 | #12 Veranskova

4YO mare trained by Cindy Alderson. One jumpout and trial.

Latest:

Cranbourne – 800m – 04/07 – Fastest heat of the morning and she let the speed go early and finished off strongly without being asked for an effort in 3rd.

Big mare coming off long break and bone chip surgery, market and parade will be key, at her best she is well-placed to figure in the finish.

THE EAGLE’S BLACKBOOK | CAULFIELD | SATURDAY 09 JULY 2022

Race 1 | #13 Tapin’ Three

2YO filly trained by Peter Moody. Three jumpouts.

Latest:

Pak Synth – 750m – 22/06 – Jumped well, took a sit behind leading pair and sprinted quickly when asked to go winning her heat.

Well-related filly, good size and still a bit learn, wide draw ok for her, track conditions are the query with forecast rain and she’s unsighted on rain-affected, watching the betting.

Race 5 | #10 Plagiarized

3YO gelding trained by Chris Waller. Two jumpouts to resume.

Latest:

Flemington Polytrack – 800m – 24/06 – Jumped best, allowed others to lead and pushed up along the rail and was too strong for moderate opposition under a tight rein.

Big task taking on an exciting horse. Debut win rated high and only managed one more run so perhaps soundness issues or came to the end of the prep quickly. Come back in good form.

THE EAGLE’S BLACKBOOK | SANDOWN | WEDNESDAY 06 JULY 2022

RACE 7 | #5 Passione

4YO mare trained by Nigel Blackiston. Two jumpouts to resume.

Latest:

Burrumbeet – 1000m – 15/06 – Pushed out to sit 2nd in the run and took over late for a narrow but decisive win.

Ex-Kiwi, poor win strike rate, placed 3/4 first-up, two j/outs and beat a moderate field the latest and looked more comfortable on a Soft 5 so chances improve on the drying track.

RACE 8 | #3 Sixbysixtysix

4YO gelding trained by Patrick Payne. Three jumpouts and one trial to resume.

Latest:

Kerang – 900m – 22/06 – Eased out of the gates, sat 3rd in the run, let the speed go and rider backed off him in the straight.

Resumes, lightly-raced with breathing issues and has had tie back surgery over the break. In-form stable. Market best guide to his chances on the day.

THE EAGLE’S BLACKBOOK | FLEMINGTON | SATURDAY 02 JULY 2022

Race 4 | #7 Skyphios

2YO gelding trained by Rod Blacker. One mid-prep jumpout.

Kerang – 900m – 22/06 – Sat close on a slow tempo and took some riding late and warmed up on the line to finish 2nd on a heavy track.

Staying-type getting to 1600m, freshened, jumpout in between runs, good each way chance if he can settle closer in the run.

Race 7 | #1 Savatoxl

6YO gelding trained by T & C McEvoy. One mid-prep jumpout.

Kerang – 900m – 22/06 – Went to the lead and controlled the heat, time was around average for the morning.

Group 1 winner back in grade with big weight, no straight track form to reference and only one run at Flemington over 1400m. Market watch?

THE EAGLE’S BLACKBOOK | CAULFIELD | WEDNESDAY 10 AUGUST 2022

Race 3 | #6 Miss Balvenie

Four-year-old mare trained by Tom Dabernig. One jumpout.

Penshurst – 800m – 04/08 – Jumped the best and restrained to sit wide on the speed and travelled under a tight rein in the straight to win.

Returning from 10 weeks out. Genuine wet-tracker who goes well fresh but may not get conditions to suit with a drying track.

Race 4 | #7 Duch Of Savoy

Four-year-old mare trained by Team Hawkes. Two Trials to resume.

Latest:

Rosehill – 900m – 29/07 – Pinged the gates, restrained, sat behind leaders turning for home and worked to line in 2nd.

Only win came at this track, trialled twice and market best guide switching states. Drying conditions suit.

THE EAGLE’S BLACKBOOK | CAULFIELD | SATURDAY 6 AUGUST 2022

Race 3| #13 Veranskova

Five-year-old mare trained by Cindy Alderson. One mid-prep jumpout.

Cranbourne – 1000m – 27/07 – Jumped fast, restrained to sit midfield and came with a big run under a quiet ride in the straight to win the heat.

Improved again judging by her jumpout, big and burly mare who resumed at Flemington coming off bone chip surgery first-up, fitter and in the right race 2nd up.

Race 5 | #5 Shooting For Gold

Five-year-old gelding trained by O’Dea & Hoysted. One mid-prep jumpout.

Flemington – 800m – 29/07 – Jumped ok, went forward and travelled on the bridle running fast time against quality opposition.

Five-week freshen with the jumpout in-between which suggested he’s in good order, well-placed and suited by the small field. Query is the straight track.

THE EAGLE’S BLACKBOOK | CAULFIELD | WEDNESDAY 3 AUGUST 2022

Race 2 | #4 What You Need

Three-year-old colt trained by Price & Kent Jnr. One trial and one jumpout.

Latest:

Cranbourne – 750m – 18/07 – Jumped with the field, sat wide on the track and chimed in late under a soft ride to finish 2nd.

On debut, he finished close-up in his trial and was given an easy time in his jumpout. Ben Melham booked and market best guide.

Race 3 | #12 Nanagui

Three-year-old filly trained by Peter Moody. One jumpout to resume.

Pakenham Synth – 750m – 19/07 – Stepped ok travelled alone midfield, peeled wide and went to the line winning narrowly under her own steam.

Brings outstanding formlines for a midweek maiden and resumes off a quiet jumpout on the synthetic. Parade and market will be key.
