HOBART | 27 JANUARY

BEST BACK OF THE NIGHT: Race 9 | #3 Jewel Titan for 3 units

JEWEL TITAN (3) began moderately last week before she showed impressive chase to drive through and hold the lead through the bend. There doesn’t appear to be a great deal of speed in this field so she can challenge or the front again and would be hard to beat if she does. HELLO (2) has been racing from some difficult boxes and looks well placed in this race.

JEWEL TITAN (3) was impressive last week and is the one to beat in this race.

Race 1 | KEY RUNNERS

2. Marry The Night
7. Agent Nevada
8. Special Bond

SPECIAL BOND (8) ran some smart sectional times here a fortnight ago before finding trouble from an inside draw last week. He seemed to want to race away from the fence so the box may suit. AGENT NEVADA (7) has also raced away from the fence so appears well placed out wide and found trouble last week so can improve on her overall time. MARRY THE NIGHT (2) has shown early pace and can challenge for the lead from a good draw.

Betting Strategy

BACK (PLACE) — Marry The Night for 2 units

Race 2 | KEY RUNNERS

7. Nail ‘Em Fencer
10. Ticket To Heaven
3. Dr Hayley
2. Dewana Mylo

NAIL ‘EM FENCER (7) has been outstanding in Launceston over the 278m and has recorded some excellent sectional times on the track over the 461m. This distance should suit him perfectly and he looks a top chance despite the draw. TICKET TO HEAVEN (10) ran a fast time winning on Monday night but he has a difficult draw over the short trip. DR. HAYLEY (3) ran super sections in Devonport last start and DEWANA MILO (2) has his best draw since arriving in the state.

Betting Strategy

BACK (WIN) — Nail ‘Em Fencer for 2 units

Race 3 | KEY RUNNERS

7. Dewana Be Lucky
6. Berate
3. Wynburn Calypso

BERATE (6) has an awkward draw but consistent form on the track and there doesn’t look to be a lot of early speed in the field so he may be able to obtain a forward spot. DEAWNA BE LUCKY (7) appears a chance of leading after an early split of 5.08 in Launceston last start. He raced away from the fence so this draw could suit him. WYNBURN CALYPSO (3) hasn’t had a lot of luck lately but did run 26.45 on the track recently which compares well in this race.

Betting Strategy

BACK (WIN) — Dewana Be Lucky for 1 unit

Race 4 | KEY RUNNERS

2. Saint Zac
6. Tah Allie

SAINT ZAC (2) was less than a length away from making the Group 2 Launceston Cup final on Monday night and drops back to Juvenile class from a great draw. He does also drop back in distance however his early sections appear quick enough to challenge for the front. TAH ALLIE (6) was a fast winner over the 278m in Launceston running a better time than SAINT ZAC (2) over that distance.

Betting Strategy

BACK (WIN) — Saint Zac for 2 units

Race 5 | KEY RUNNERS

6. Glover
1. Our Macca Boy

OUR MACCA BOY (1) recorded a smart time last week from the outside draw where he has produced his best. He is yet to place from five red box starts and I’m happy to leave him again as the second favourite. GLOVER (6) is a fast beginner who can cross over and find the front. He does struggle in the run home over this distance but may be hard to catch if he runs up to his best of 26.23.

Betting Strategy

BACK (WIN) — Glover for 1 unit

Race 6 | KEY RUNNERS

4. Flexing
1. Pair’s Six
6. Not So Cashless
7. Dashing George

PAIR’S SIX (1) has his best draw in a while and his best first sections give him a good chance of holding the front. He will need his best as he may be challenged by FLEXING (4) and also NOT SO CASHLESS (6) who are both capable of crossing over from their wider boxes. DASHING GEORGE (7) is a slow starter who finished well and could run into the placings.

Betting Strategy

BACK (EACH WAY) — Flexing for 1 unit each-way

Race 7 | KEY RUNNERS

1. Superior Swanny
2. He’s Under Wraps
3. Agent Aspen
5. Deadly Cecil

SUPERIOR SWANNY (1) was the fastest heat winner a fortnight ago with a smart time of 26.00 and backed that up with a good run in his semi-final. He draws much better here and may be assisted by HE’S UNDER WRAPS (2) and AGENT ASPEN (3) who will likely head wide early on. DEADLY CECIL (5) was a fast heat winner and go the job done here a week ago however he hasn’t shown much early pace which makes his draw difficult.

Betting Strategy

BACK (WIN) — Superior Swanny for 2 units

Race 8 | KEY RUNNERS

7. Yaramundi Hoover
3. Broken Arrows
1. Loch And Loaded
2. Pretty boy Roy

LOCH AND LOADED (1) showed her preference for an inside draw by winning through to the Group 2 Launceston Cup final on Monday night with a terrific overall time. She may have to settle for a position behind the leader here, but her times suggest she could be hard to hold out. BROKEN ARROWS (3) is the runner likely to find the front based on her recent early sections. YARAMUNDI HOOVER (7) ran a nice race stepping up in class last week finishing just behind BROKEN ARROWS (3) and has handled wider draws well. PRETTY BOY ROY (2) drops back from Invitation class and is suited by the draw.

Betting Strategy

BACK (WIN) — Yaramundi Hoover for 1 unit

Race 9 | KEY RUNNERS

3. Jewel Titan
2. Hello

Betting Strategy

BACK (WIN) — Jewel Titan for 3 units

Race 10 | KEY RUNNERS

4. Self Control
1. Buckle Up Simola

SELF CONTROL (4) has found all sorts of trouble at her past few starts attempting to get to the outside of the track from inside boxes. She looks to have the speed to hold out any runner drawn wider than her in this event and is the runner to beat if she finds the outside cleanly before the bend. BUCKLE UP SIMOLA (1) is a little surprisingly having her first run over the 461m and has the early pace to challenge here.

Betting Strategy

BACK (WIN) — Self Control for 2 units
