Fils is improving on grass, and this matchup could be rather favourable with Hurkacz lacking a powerful forehand to take advantage of some timing issues Fils can have on that wing on a low-bouncing surface. Both of these serve big, and neither is a strong returner, so tiebreaks look extremely likely. Fils has suffered a dip in level after a huge 2023 season, but he’s looked much more comfortable on court in recent weeks and reached the quarterfinals of Halle, taking a set from Alexander Zverev. It would not be surprising to see 2/3 tiebreaks in this matchup. Given the small margins and Fils weapons from the baseline, he should make this uncomfortable for Hurkacz.
