ROSEHILL RACING TIPS | SATURDAY 26 MARCH 2022

Saturday racing at Rosehill featuring two Group One races, the Tancred and Vinery.

The track is currently rated a Soft 7 however there is further rain forecast including on race day so I expect that a downgrade is very likely. The rail is +5m 1400m-W/Post and +4m the remainder.

BEST BACK OF THE DAY: RACE 8 | #6 Gypsy Goddess (WIN) for 4 units

The first up win at Eagle Farm was comfortable over the mile and with the big weight. She does look like she could be a very special horse and happy to be with her in this race that the trainer has had earmarked for many months now.

BEST LAY OF THE DAY: RACE 7 | #1 Think It Over (WIN) to win 2 units

Went to Melbourne last start in an attempt to dodge wet tracks and they are back here on what will likely be a Soft 7 or worse. Happy to risk at the current quote as he is much better on top of the ground.

Race 1 | Rosehill Racing Tips | Key Runners

8. Two Up
9. Dalaalaat
3. More Sundays
6. Bentley Magic

Betting Strategy

No bets – Another open midway race to kick off the meeting. I am happy to just watch this race and to identify any potential track bias.

Race 2 | Rosehill Racing Tips | Key Runners

2. Boyfriend
3. Williamsburg
11. Miss Faberge
10. Moko

Betting Strategy

No bets – In an open race there is no edge at the current prices so happy to stay out.

Race 3 | Rosehill Racing Tips | Key Runners & Expert Tips

4. Mount Popa
1. Yonkers
13. Polly Grey
14. Monegal

Betting Strategy

BACK (WIN) – Mount Popa for 2 units

Like Mount Popa after a solid effort last time against some of the same opposition he faces here. He only needs to repeat that performance and could even regress slightly to be winning this race.

Race 4 | Rosehill Racing Tips | Key Runners & Expert Tips

3. Character
5. Sword Point
6. Zoumon
13. Money From The Sky

Betting Strategy

BACK (EACH-WAY) – Character for 1 unit to win & place

This looks a target race for this horse where for some of the others it looks more of an afterthought or an unexpected progression. The win first up was strong and then last time raced well in the Group 2 Phar Lap. Suited to 2000m 3rd up and I feel he can only run well here.

Race 5 | Rosehill Racing Tips | Key Runners

7. Annavisto
5. Expat
10. Promise Of Success
9. Kiku

Betting Strategy

BACK (WIN) – Annavisto for 2 units

Produced a career peak figure to win first up and the stable has stated publicly how much they believe she has improved. Jamie Kah sticks for this and as long as she can settle just behind the first pair she will be hard to beat here 2nd up.

Race 6 | Rosehill Racing Tips | Key Runners

11. Our Playboy
2. Just Folk
14. Mr Mozart
5. Imaging

Betting Strategy

BACK (WIN) – Our Playboy for 2 units

Looks to be a target race from the stable looking to qualify another runner for the Doncaster. Stable would have identified that this race would likely be run on a rain affected surface which this horse loves and gets into this with just 53kg with Jamie Kah to ride.

There is plenty of speed to ensure a genuine tempo in this race and some of the best performances from this horse have been in fast run races.

Race 7 | Rosehill Racing Tips | Key Runners

11. Duais
2. Spanish Mission
1. Think It Over

Betting Strategy

BACK (WIN) – Duais for 2 units

The win was awesome in the Australia Cup, beating the main dangers comfortably in the end. As long as it is not a completely bog track, I think she can just win again here.

LAY (WIN) – Think It Over to win 2 units

Went to Melbourne last start in an attempt to dodge wet tracks and they are back here on what will likely be a soft 7 or worse. Happy to risk at the current quote as he is much better on top of the ground.

Race 8 | Rosehill Racing Tips | Key Runners

6. Gypsy Goddess
2. Hinged
7. Pretty Amazing
3. Never Been Kissed

Betting Strategy

BACK (WIN) – Gypsy Goddess for 4 units

The first up win at Eagle Farm was comfortable over the mile and with the big weight. She does look like she could be a very special horse and happy to be with her in this race that the trainer has had earmarked for many months now.

BACK (SAVE) – Hinged for 1.5 units

The run was very good in the Coolmore against older mares and the stable has stated for some time now that this looks like their Vinery horse. Further, I just have to respect an in-form jockey, particularly one that is winning races at the highest level of late.

Race 9 | Rosehill Racint Tips | Key Runners

13. Gravina
18. Maotai
1. Count De Rupee
8. Quantico

Betting Strategy

BACK (WIN) – Gravina for 2 units

Happy to be with Gravina here on the wet track and back up to 1200m which this horse appears to be far better suited. Brings strong form lines to this including a third placing to Shelby Sixtysix who won the group 1 Galaxy last week.

LAY (PLACE) – Quantico to win 1 unit

Has had no success on a wet track to date so I am happy to oppose at the current place price here. There are other runners in this race who may not be as good as this horse, however they can handle the rain affected surface and are better suited today.

ROSEHILL RACECOURSE

Rosehill Gardens is located in the Sydney suburb of Rosehill, and is owned and managed by the Australian Turf Club (ATC). Betfair provides expert race tips and best bets for every Rosehill meeting, including the nine Group 1 races held there annually. The Rosehill racing calendar is headlined by Golden Slipper Day, which features five Group 1 contests.

FAST FACTS

  • A total of 36 Group races are run each year at Rosehill, with the Betfair Hub bringing you race tips as well as detailed analysis and previews for each.
  • Rosehill first opened in 1885 and has been operated by the ATC since 2011, when it assumed responsibility from the Sydney Turf Club.

KEY EVENTS

Golden Slipper Day in March is Rosehill’s marquee event, with five Group 1s including the world’s richest race for two-year-olds. Together with the Melbourne Cup, Caulfield Cup and Cox Plate, the $5 million contest is considered one of the crown jewels of Australian racing and was won in 2022 by Gary Portelli’s flying filly Fireburn.

Despite not carrying Group status, the Golden Eagle is the richest race run at Rosehill with a prize purse of $8 million. For Rosehill tips on the Golden Eagle, Golden Slipper and all meetings held at the track, head to the Betfair Hub today.

TRACK PROFILE

The Rosehill track has a circumference of 2,048m, with the home straight measuring 408m in length. The track traditionally tends to favour runners on the inside, which our expert analysts take into account when delivering their Rosehill tips.

HISTORY

In the early 1880s, founder John Bennett purchased a large block of land in Rosehill with a view to building a racecourse and recreation area. Construction began in 1883 and was completed in 1885, with a private railway line which connects the racecourse to the main line officially opening three years later. Construction costs for the entire site amounted to just over $20,000!
