Back to Doomben after a tricky Ipswich track with the fence well off. Hopefully some followers went one step better than me and backed Monsieur Gustave in the Ipswich Eyeliner. Tatts Tiara day looks a day for the punters as I fancy some short priced runners in the features.

Doomben Race 7 | Tattersall’s Tiara | 1350m | 3:57pm

Outside the favourite this looks a really tough affair. Punting Form have the race between the favourite In Her Time and Danish Twist. Both have G1 quality and importantly both look close to their peak. Danish Twist ran on strongly at Rosehill giving weight to some handy males it what Punting Form describe as ‘hit out’. I give her a good chance but looking at the speed map I’m letting her go.

In Her Time worked hard in running and boxed on gamely behind Impending in the Stradbroke Handicap. If she gets an OK run in transit and can replicate that effort she wins. It’s hard to see her getting to far out in the market. Vince Accardi’s RSPs also indicate that she’ll be hard to beat.

Eckstein is a progressive filly that was brilliant in winning the Glenlogan Park Stakes a month ago at Eagle Farm. She’ll need to run to a career peak to win this but that’s a possibility considering how strong she was last start finishing in the wrong part of the track.

Tycoon Tara maps perfectly for Kerrin McEvoy who’s in great form. With more room and another run under her belt she can improve dramatically for Team Snowden. Another knockout at big odds is Miss Cover Girl who won this race at Eagle Farm last race. She might be too far back on the map to land a killer blow but at the price it’s easy to be with her.

 BACK (WIN) In Her Time

Doomben Race 8 | WJ Healy Stakes | 1200m | 4:32pm

Expecting Deploy to be a filthy result for bookmakers in the last here. Vince Accardi’s RSPs rate the lightly raced gelding narrowly on top. Hard not to love this galloper with his positive early gate speed and ability to quicken off a solid tempo. He’ll be in the race sweet spot and only bad luck will be him for mine.

Dothraki meets him slightly better at the weights since they last met but I think Deploy has enough improvement for that not to matter. Punting Form have mapped Dothraki three wide in running which I can easily see happening.

Flippant looks set up to win but looking at Deploy I think she’s poorly weighted despite looking attractive on the speed map.

Daniel O’Sullivan from The Rating Bureau has signalled Upstart Pride as the value.

 BACK (WIN) Deploy

 LAY (WIN) Dothraki
