Perth and Brisbane radars look clear and both tracks will be rated Good expect typically tracks that favour horses forward of midfield at each venue.

Doomben R8 | Listed Lough Neagh Stakes | 1350m Quality | 5:47pm

Monsieur Gustave won the George Moore thanks to a perfectly timed Tiffani Booker ride. Stacked them up from the 600-400m mark then skipped away at the home turn to win by the narrowest of margins. Now rises in trip and at the weights in race with a handful of chances, concede the track should play to its favour and others may take it on which could make it value late in the market.

Snoopy was a touch unlucky last start, held up slightly at a crucial time to miss when diving at the line late. No knock from Barrier 3 but generally races better fresh so would prefer three weeks between runs.

Most Important won this race last year with 54kg. Was a big run last time and extra pressure in the race suits it. Plenty to like about his closing 200m in the George Moore Stakes so wary any big push in betting with this runner very capable of sitting in the first four pairs stalking the leaders.  Appears setup to win this race.

Ruetigger hasn’t won since July of 2016 at Caulfield in Listed level. With a stable change, gear changes and Jamie Kah on the minimum this horse could get out to a big price on the BSP from a wide draw, could play at $15+.

Ascot R7 |  G3 AJ Scahill Stakes | 1400m WFA | 8:10pm

Another tough feature race with opinions divided. Daniel O’Sullivan from TRB rates Variation $3.30 expecting him to be difficult to run down if Brad Parnham can find the lead from Barrier 6.

I like his angle with Ullman who he rates $3.70 second pick in the market. Ullman dropping back to his pet distance appeals and there was plenty of merit in his run over 1600m at G1 level. 59kg is no issue for him and the only negative I can find is Barrier 8. Three weeks between runs is perfect and while I’d prefer Damien Lane on, Brad Rawiller measures up well against Perth riders.

State Solicitor was ridden aggressively early and struggle to get into a rhythm until very late. Would prefer to see him bounce back into form before I could back him again. Might need a spell? Punting Form are happy to look past his last start failure. They suggest a drop in class and a rise in distance is enough to rate him on top. Interestingly enough Daniel O’Sullivan rates him $7.50.
