Racing Preview: Saturday 5th May

The forecast at Morphettville is improving by the minute with 2mm or less rain forecast and minimal wind. The track is a Soft 6 which can improve. The rail is true, and the track should play fairly.

Morphettville R8 | Queen Of The South Stakes | 5:15pm

Interesting race to asses with many of these appearing poorly setup to win and somewhat of an afterthought looking through a trainer’s lens. The market has installed Savapinski as favourite and looking at its first up run there’s plenty of improvement to come. Carried 59kg against the boys, only beaten 1.3 lengths behind Tribal Wisdom (53kgs) and Osborne Bulls (58). The latter was fourth up so it was a remarkable effort by Savapinksi to keep battling to the line. Back to mare’s grade with 1600m her best distance looking at her ratings. Will push forward from barrier seven for Tim Clark and be very hard to run down.

Hussterical needs to run to a big new PB rating to win and Jester Halo appears the danger but barrier 14 is a big negative and Craig Williams is likely to snag her back upon settling.

Insider Suggests

BACK – Savapinksi 2.5 for two units.
