Racing Preview: Saturday 21st April

The weather forecast is clear with wind no factor at Caulfield. With the rail +9m it could play a slight advantage to leaders.

Caulfield R9 | Listed TROA Anniversary Vase | 5:10pm

High level of confidence in the last on the card with a two-bet dutching strategy. Land Of Plenty has the perfect platform here with a soft win at 1400m last time at Bendigo which should see him spike at what I believe is his pet distance of a mile. He’s drawn off the fence and stays on the minimum for Ben Allen and the majority of Darren Weir trained runners improve into their preparations. Looks hard to beat.

The danger is the Hayes/Dabernig horse Fastnet Tempest that’s been freshened slightly since a solid run in the Victoria handicap when pulling up with the thumps. Struck trouble in the Newmarket handicap when thrown in the deep end and now gets to its best distance with a senior rider on and again is drawn off the fence to suit its run on style. $15 into $10 with the corporates when markets opened so there’s definitely a level of confidence out there that he can bounce back after two forgive runs.

Insider Suggests

BACK (WIN) – Land Of Plenty for 3.5 units

BACK (WIN) – Fastnet Tempest for 1.5 units
