I’m very confident across both states in the feature races. Daily Sectionals RSPs are available for Randwick and Sydney which should help with your cross referencing. We skittled a few shorties on Saturday and these lays look very short in the early markets….

Randwick Race 4 | Anzac Appeal Cup | 2000m | 2:30pm

Life Less Ordinary needed all over the 1800m at Caulfield to overhaul Overberg in the BM78 at Caulfield at his first Australian start. I’m confident that’s a nice platform for 2000m at Randwick on a slow track. He can settle close enough from barrier two to run down Stampede. Vince Accardi rates him on top looking at the RSPs and I’ve marked him favourite over Stampede.

 BACK (WIN) Life Less Ordinary

Flemington Race 4 | Anzac Stakes | 1400m | 2:50pm

Looks a pretty straight forward race on paper. Merchant Navy has impressed me at both career starts. He might drift from his early market price of $2.25 to $2.50 but I’m still happy to be with him from a positive draw given his racing style.

Blackburn $41 comes from the same race and finished off nicely behind Merchant Navy. If he continues to improve he can fill a placing at big odds. Persian Empire is thrown in the deep end at his first start for Trent Bussuttin and Natalie Young which also interests me.

 BACK – Merchant Navy

Flemington Race 6 | VRC St Leger | 2800m | 4:00pm

Looks a pretty even race according to Vince Accardi’s RSPs and the further I delve into the race I’m not completely excited by it. 2000m to 2400m is a very different beast, as is 2400m to 2800m.

Despite copping a bump on the turn I thought Miss Strathallan was only fair through the line which makes me query here stepping up in trip. She rates 4th best on Vince’s total RSP score. High Mode looks a big improver coming from the same race and winner Lycurgus looks well suited again and is likely to stalk Miss Strathallan from one barrier outside her.

Baykool has genuine claims from an inside draw. Rock And Swing could improve out of sight back to a firm surface and the Frank Packer Plate and Tulloch Stakes are traditionally much stronger events then these.

Penthouse Kitten rates well on the RSPs and this looks like a big target race. The stable have a big opinion of her competing in the Wakeful and Oaks last spring. Watch her replay from Mornington here to see how unlucky she was.

LAY (WIN) Miss Strathallan (Expect a market drift from $4.00)

Flemington Race 7 | Auckland Racing Club Trophy | 1600m | 4:35pm

This looks a really deep race. I’m a little wary about the obvious favourite Milwaukee who rises to 1600m. He kicked strongly off that fast early tempo in the Bendigo Guineas and held a good margin to the line. Runner-up in that event (Sword Of Light) won on Saturday at Caulfield so that should see him kept well in the market.

Serecena was good fresh up off an extended break over 1300m at Sandown. From barrier four and clear running to the line she can make her presence felt out to a more suitable distance. She’s the value looking at early market prices ($9.00).

Egg Tart has a big wrap from the Waller yard and this race looks more suitable for her than last Saturday at Randwick. She’s yet to post any stellar overall time but her two last start wins has proven she has plenty of talent.

Butch Kissidy can improve with no weight on his back and Spanner Head will improve out to 1600m.

 BACK (WIN) Seracena

Randwick Race 7 | Beersheba | 1000m | 4:15pm

Blowing Kisses has opened rock bottom odds here at $3.50. She runs into a smart field with plenty of speed to post her wide from barrier eight. Although her win was soft first up and she ran some fast final sectionals she needs to improve close to four lengths to win here.

Despite getting an in-form jockey on top I think it’s a poor set up for her on a slow track, rail +10m (likely to be forced back) with more rain forecast. She’s a much better horse on top of the ground and I couldn’t take anything less than $6 or $7.00. Looks a race with about six other genuine winning chances.
