GOLD COAST

Rail 3.5m+

Rare midweek meeting at the Gold Coast this week. Rail is 3.5m from the 1400m to W/P and 2m the remainder.

One of the rare weeks where we won on every race in the preview last week and we will take them when we get them as the Wednesdays had been tough for a while.

This looks a fair meeting and there are a few who create interest without exactly jumping off the page at me. Don’t mind the card, not as confident as last Wednesday though.

More than interesting maiden and there will be 3-4 winners come out of this.

KANDANGA MISS, BATANGA’S ENTRY, BOOM EXPRESS and OUR FRAULEIN will all be winning races and are a little unlucky they have all found each other here.

BOOM EXPRESS has Nothdurft on top and should be able to hold the fence here. She is likely to get the perfect steer and will look the winner for sure, we find out here if she can run a strong 1100m because she can be weak late if tested.

KANDANGA MISS is 450+ days off and comes here off one official trial. That has to be a concern but I do have a lot of time for her. Lightly raced and was beaten a small margin by Ziemba in a very strong CL2 when she last stepped out. Her trial win was good and I’d love a market steer into her.

BATANGA’S ENTRY was in that same trial and was a pass mark as well. He showed more than enough last prep and raced well on a number of occasions without getting the job done. This is probably as short as he’d like it but sure to be strong late and surprised he opened $10.

OUR FRULEIN is having her first start for the Brian Smith yard and has more gear changes than a Beyonce concert. They can land a plunge and any money trail would be a good push.

Betting Strategy

BACK (WIN) — Kandanga Miss for 1 unit

BACK (WIN) — Batanga’s Entry for 0.5 units

MALAHIDE is a very handy mare on her day and was well supported when resuming in a F-M Qlty race. She was beaten 0.9L there so the effort wasn’t bad, her L50m was though. Maybe she needed the run and back to 1100m on her track should be suitable. Her best would win it and she can make amends for the fresh run.

MOUNTBATTEN is a very consistent type. He is a dead set leader but last start he come from last and went right over the top. Do they stick with those tactics? He could lead these if he wanted to.

WHOBEGOTAZOU and BOLD STYLE both have good ability and wouldn’t shock to see them win either.

Betting Strategy

BACK (WIN) — Malahide for 1 unit

There are a few obvious ones that are always in the market like SACRED SUITE and TRUMPED UP. NOTE- they are still lining up in maidens though.

For that reason I’m just having a very small e/w play on HOSTWIN GENERATION. The run was probably as good as SACRED SUITE when they last met and he comes here fresh off a little let up. The gate is far from ideal but with any luck in running he might be the value in the race full of ‘gonna’ horses. WARP SPEED was heavily supported at first start for Heathcote and was too bad to be true. There was a mucus issue there and has opened even money again here. Market a guide again there.

Just a very small speck bet.

Betting Strategy

BACK (EW) — Hostwin Generation for 0.5 units each-way

I don’t think they will overcook it here but ALL IMPORTANT will do whatever he has to do to find the leader. He is better when leading and on the fence so keen to see how many, if any punch up underneath him. He’s suited with the claim if he finds the front and can be hard to catch.

TRENGGANU copped a pretty ordinary steer last start and I’d be expecting a better ride with the good senior jumping aboard. All his runs have been good since joining the new stable and he can bounce back in a suitable race.

Betting Strategy

BACK (WIN) — Trengganu for 1.75 units

BACK (WIN) — All Important for 0.75 units
