ProLays: Wednesday 29th March 2017

Every week on The Hub, professional punters from across the country will be nominating their LAY of the week.

Racing Watch –

John Walter – @J_Walter23 – Newcastle – Race 1 #5 Merovee (Place)

Walter Says: “Expensive colt on debut here. Three solid trials to the eye, the latest coming from well back to win a moderately run heat with a very slow final section. He looks to lack early pace and should find himself in a very awkward position here. Others engaged have a bit of depth to their run and think Merovee looks a big risk on debut.”

Champion Bets –

Nathan Snow – @snowbet – Newcastle – Race 2 #9 Solo Song (Place)

Snow Says: “Limited type who has run a few placings but in some ordinary races. Flattered last start when it had things to suit. This race has more depth with some big improvers!”

Punting Form –

Shane Baker – @PuntingForm – Sandown Hillside – Race 4 #3 Downhearted

Baker Says: “Is having its sixth run this preparation, dropping back from 1400m to 1300m and looks anything but a progressive type. The jockey change to Chris Caserta does not inspire me and Great Southern appeals as the more likely favourite with the ultimate gear change, gelded. Can rate several runners ahead of Downhearted, so happy to take it on.”

Racetrack Ralphy –

Ralph Horowitz – @rtralphy – Sandown Hillside 6 #11 Prescience

Horowitz Says: “He’s favourite in a plain race but has four standout factors that makes him zero interest as a betting proposition and happy to be against him. 1. He’s one win from 19 starts. 2. He was unlucky last start at Moonee Valley, but that was in a slow race, which usually means the video watchers will ‘over-bet’ him. 3. Newitt’s past three months in Melbourne metro is one win from 49 rides (2% v 7.7% expectations) and no wins from 14 single figure odds rides.4. Waller past three months Melbourne metro is three wins from 48 runners (6% v 14.3% market expectations) and of the single figure odds runners two wins from 28 runs (7% v 20% market expectations).”

Rick Williams Racing –

Rick Williams – @rwilliamsracing – Doomben – Race 3 #3 All Pluck

Williams Says: “Looks a chance to end up in a tricky spot here back and on the fence. That is not an ideal spot at Doomben especially with the rail out 10m. ”

Ratings2Win –

Paul Daily – @PaulD01 – Doomben – Race 4 #1 Sharpamal (Place)

Daily Says: “Lightly raced 3yo who won a Gold Coast maiden in average figures but had plenty in its favour that day. Faces a tougher assignment here with more early pressure, a tricky gate and a jockey who has only won one from 34 metropolitan rides in the last two years. Helen Page also has a poor record with last start winners repeating with only two wins from her last 69 metropolitan runners makes me want to risk this horse. At current odds of $4.20, I suggest we lay it the place.”

Ratings2Win –

Chris Nelson – @qldtrials – Doomben – Race 7 #3 Meet George Jetson

Daily Says: “Although he’s coming off a narrow last start Sunshine Coast victory beating subsequent winner Tarzan, he’s not likely to score as easy a lead in today’s race, which is much stronger on paper. One alley closer after scratching’s he’ll jump from barrier seven of nine with a few drawn to his inside that will kick up which isn’t suitable. He’s won on soft ground, but it is not his preferred surface, and the bureau suggest we could be in for a storm later in the day.”

John McLeod – @macbetjohn – Doomben – Race 7 #3 Meet George Jetson

McLeod Says: “Meet George Jetson had a soft lead last time at the Sunshine Coast and fell in. There is no big ratings edge for him here and with added speed; he won’t be leading this field. Happy to bet against him.”

Horse Racing Professionals –

Geoff McMurray – @mcmurray_geoff  – Ascot – Race 1 #8 Get the Vibe

McMurray Says: “Get the Vibe has come up very short in the market after trialling ok on a few occasions. Strikes a few horses that are coming off some pretty good runs in stakes company including Everything’s Sweet, Money Maher, Watto’s Fury and Classy Marcy. Happy to oppose at the short odds on offer.”

Racebk –

Ben Krahe – @racebk_com – Redcliffe Harness – Race 2 #5 Wishitwasheaven

McMurray Says: “Won well at Redcliffe two starts ago in easier grade, then could not get into the race at Albion Park. The major doubt is the map here with plenty of speed drawn to its inside. At odds on in early markets, it is a great lay.”
