Champion Bets –

Nathan Snow – @snowbet – Canterbury – Race 2 #3 Never Back Down

Snow Says: “Honest, but limited type who had all the favours on pace last start and only hung on fairly. Looks a race with a few progressive types so happy to oppose.”

Punting Form –

Shane Baker – @PuntingForm – Ipswich – Race 8 #3 Care To Think

Baker Says: “Looks way to short at the odds on quote in the early markets. Can only presume this is because it is resuming from a spell and has trialled impressively over 1000m at Deagon at the 18/4. There is a field if 14 runners engaged here, some of which have much better race performances than Care To Think. It has drawn barrier five and has shown no tendency to go forward under race conditions. With speed wanting to cross from outside it here, they look to have no choice but drift back and hope to clot in somewhere in a fast run race. It will then need luck in running to get clear at a crucial stage after turning for home on the tight Ipswich circuit ( with the rail +8m). Happy to lay at the short quote and let luck take over in what I would all a chaotic and contentious race.”

Racing Watch –

John Walter – @J_Walter23 – Canterbury – Race 1 #1 In Times Of War (Place)

Walter Says: “Only a field of five remains here but still feel that this filly is well found. Ridden aggressively first up, she settled outside an even tempo and never looked like getting the winner. Now has blinkers on and out to 1250m against a very talented little field. Hoping they push for the front earlier and she might struggle to settle sufficiently from this position.”

Ratings2Win –

Chris Nelson – @qldtrials – Ipswich – Race 3 #4 Occhilupo

Nelson Says: “Faces a task today jumping from gate nine to 12 at an awkward starting point (1527m). Whilst his last start Toowoomba win was impressive it was four weeks back and he does rise over 300m in distance today facing stronger opposition. All of the above is enough to suggest his price this morning (second favourite) is under the odds.”

John McLeod – @macbetjohn – Ipswich – Race 7 #12 Dieters (Each-Way)

McLeod Says: “Dieters resumed after a long spell at Caloundra and showed speed but gave up quickly. I don’t like horses second up after long spells and will need to find a lot on his first up performance to win here. Happy to take it on at $6 e/w.”

Ratings2Win –

Paul Daily – @PaulD01 – Strathalbyn – Race 2 #4 The Big Cheese

Daily Says: “Yet to run well in seven career starts. Whilst this is a weak maiden, I am prepared to risk this gelding on the basis that his last start was poor. Is 28 days between runs and up in distance from 1400m to 2057m. In addition, his trainer has only landed 1 win from 46 runners in the last 730 days. The only thing at all in its favour is that the others aren’t much good and his breeding suggest that he could be suited/ Weighing all this however at the current fixed odds on offer ($2.05), make me keen to oppose him given the risk factors associated with his profile.”

Horse Racing Professionals –

Geoff McMurray – @mcmurray_geoff  – Sandown – Race 3 #4 Hot Ruby

McMurray Says: “Happy to oppose Hot Ruby at around $3 under today’s race conditions. The mares last few runs have been just fair in what has been a long preparation. Also has to contend with 58.5kg on a very wet track where she only has had one win from seven attempts. Looks good upside with Alamonteel and Jennio who both look better suited.”

Rick Williams Racing –

Rick Williams – @rwilliamsracing – Ipswich – Race 8 #3 Care To Think

Williams Says: “Nice horse resuming but is likely to get well back here in the run due to his pattern and gate. Rail out 8m isn’t going to make things much easier and $1.90 looks a bit too skinny”

Racetrack Ralphy –

Ralph Horowitz – @rtralphy – Sandown – Race 3 #7 Northern Charm (Place)

Horowitz Says: “She’s won three of her past four but that’s where the appeal ends coming to today. Taking on a wet track duck Almonteel and Hot Ruby who is clearly the best horse in the race on her peak figure of early February at Caulfield and Jennio who is ready to win. Northern Charm won easily at Pakenham in a slower time than the maiden winner on the same day 22/03, while her last win was in a blanket finish same track/distance where again there was no substance to the time. That was young apprentice’s first win since February and he stays on here. Can’t find a spot for her in the first two placings.”

racebk –

Ben Krahe – @racebk_com – Bendigo Harness – Race 8 #4 Marylebone

Krahe Says: “Somewhat enigmatic pacer who hasn’t really shown her best at her last four starts. Was beaten 50m four starts ago in a winnable race then again at her last two only managing to run fifth of 10 at Kilmore and third of 4 here last time. Doesn’t look to be going well enough.”
