ProLays: Wednesday 22nd February 2017

Every week on The Hub, professional punters from across the country will be nominating their LAY of the week.

Get the latest LAY nominations for Wednesday 22nd February below.

Racing Watch –

John Walter – @J_Walter23 – Rosehill Race 4 #5 Dawn Wall

Walter Says: “Impressive to the eye when breaking through in a restricted maiden last time. This filly comes up relatively short despite stepping up sharply in class and distance here. There was certainly merit in her breakthrough win, but the gaps did appear at the right time and I am not convinced by anything she put away there. This race is full of horses on the up and I am happy to risk her at the early price.”

Champion Bets –

Nathan Snow – @snowbet – Rosehill – Race 6 #7 He’s A Given

Snow Says: “Shocked by the flood of money for this at 9am this morning. Really had conditions to suit on the heavy surface last start when given a perfect ride. The tricky draw makes the map a query and faces a race with considerably more depth. Hope the money keeps coming for it!”

Punting Form –

Shane Baker – @PuntingForm – Launceston – Race 7 #1 Lord Da Vinci

Baker Says: “Goes into this race as a short price favourite dropping back from 1400m to 1200m. Is normally kept on the fresh side (30 days plus), but this time is coming off a break of just 11 days followed by 17 days into this race. The 1200m at Launceston does not really suit this horse, as they will feel the need to be close to the early speed, on account of the very short straight. All of this combined with a big weight (61kg) could blunt his finish and there are some smart types involved here which could take advantage of any chinks in the armour.”

Queensland Trials –

Chris Nelson – @qldtrials  – Eagle Farm – Race 3 #5 My Girl Hayley

Nelson Says: “Needs to lead to have any chance and that is no certainty here with Groovy Gal drawn to her inside. She hasn’t been finishing her races off in recent times and is yet to win beyond 1110m suggesting the 1200m trip today will prove too much of a task. I am struggling to find a positive and as an opening equal favourite, it looks way under the odds.”

Horse Racing Professionals –

Geoff McMurray – @mcmurray_geoff  – Ascot – Race 2 #4 Arrum Boy

McMurray Says: “Happy to oppose Arrum Boy who has come up short on debut. There are a few factors working against him in today’s race. Coming into the race over 1200m with only one trial this preparation is a negative. That trial to the eye was just fair and only against some moderate horses at Albany. When analysing its pedigree the horse also does not rate very highly. Arrum Boy also lines up against some horses that have looked quite useful in Kiss Bang Love, Reykjavik, Turbo Power, Royal Strata and Debellatio. Happy to be against him on debut for all those reasons.”

racebk –

Ben Krahe – @racebk_com – Shepparton Harness – Race 8 #2 Its Just Kenny

Krahe Says: “It is make or break for ‘Kenny’ who has the record of nine wins and a third from 24 starts. Back to his best last start when afforded a cheap run ‘three pegs’ and sprinted home strongly. This is the first front row draw in seven starts and although he may seem like a good thing, there’s speed drawn outside him. I think he needs a soft run to win and there looks enough depth in this field to take him on close to evens or odds on.”

Rick Williams Racing –

Rick Williams – @rwilliamsracing – Ascot – Race 1 #8 Mr Alby

Williams Says: “Has been working home well from back in the field but he maps where you do not want to be at Ascot over 1400m. It’s not a small field he needs to round up either and the rail being out 12m does not help him.”

John McLeod – @macbetjohn – Eagle Farm – Race 3 #5 My Girl Hayley

McLeod Says: “My Girl Haley has come up short in the market this morning ($3.50). She only raced fair last time and this race is very competitive with a number of chances.”

Racetrack Ralphy –

Ralph Horowitz – @rtralphy – Sandown – Race 2 #2 Coppergate

Horowitz Says: “In simple terms, he ran two lengths second to Jukebox in dreadful time in a restricted sales race on debut. While he was slowly away and appeared to ‘rattle home’ it was the 48th best last 400 of the day which isn’t enough to get interested in given his quote of $4.30 on the exchange this morning. The two favourites Eshtiraak and Feng Chu come through a solid 1200m race a fortnight ago, that stacks up from a time perspective.”

Ratings2Win –

Paul Daily – @PaulD01 – Ascot – Race 4 #9 Just Like Fire

Daily Says: “First up last time was ‘running on’ in the better part of the track. Yet to run time in seven starts to date. Will go back again from the wide gate in a race with no real tempo which makes her task a difficult one. At the $3.30 on offer early, I am happy to be against.”
