ProLays: Wednesday 11th January 2017

Every week on The Hub, professional punters from across the country will be nominating their LAY of the week.

Get the latest LAY nominations for Wednesday 11th January below.

Racing Watch –

John Walter – @J_Walter23 – Canterbury R4 #5 Fortensky

Walter Says: “On a day of small field following scratching’s. this runner looks the best risk at his current quote ($2.80). He lack a turn of foot and unless he holds the lead from barrier one he is likely to get dictated to throughout. Strong chance he will be held up and out sprinted despite it not being an overly string line up.”

Champion Bets –

Nathan Snow – @snowbet – Canterbury R1 #1 Harpers Choice

Snow Says: “Has been running on well in all three runs this preparation but there’s a couple of negative’s here today. Barrier one is against him in the small field with not much speed engaged. Now fourth up for a stable I prefer backing when fresh and most importantly not at all convinced that a rise in distance suits this horse. I prefer this runner at 1400-1600m.”

Punting Form –

Shane Baker – @PuntingForm – Canterbury – R7 #2 Your Way

Baker Says: “Is second up after recording a win at Beaumont in what was an ordinary rating. Comes to town for the first time and drawn a wide barrier without being blessed with natural early speed. Looks a deep race and happy to take on as favourite in the early market.”

Queensland Trials –

Chris Nelson – @qldtrials  – Eagle Farm – R2 #2 Cinzia

Nelson Says: “Just a couple of average trials before looking to have every chance in a weak maiden run here late last month. The leaders only dawdled in front and whilst the closing sectionals were faster, they were nothing to get enthused about. This filly from the Kendrick stable looked to have her chance and although she’s a likely improver from that experience, she’s up against it her. With Jeff Lloyd to ride she’ll have some backing which will most likely see her start under her true odds.”

Horse Racing Professionals –

Geoff McMurray – @mcmurray_geoff  – Murray Bridge – R4 #7 Anabella

McMurray Says: “Anabella comes into this race with just OK race form and off a freshen up of 38 days. The wide draw over 904m will make this even harder. The race form of Charleston Dancer and trial form of Artic Blaze looks stronger. At the current price of $3 its well under the odds and I’m happy to oppose.”

Race BK –

Ben Krahe – @racebk_com – Maryborough Harness – R3 #8 Thanksforplaying

Krahe Says: “Has only won once in 14 starts since crossing the Tasman and that was an easier race than this at Yarra Valley seven months ago. Today he has a 30m handicap to contend with and although he was only a head behind Glenferrie Belle (#5), he started $18. If it comes up near favourite here I’m very keen to take it on.”

Rick Williams Racing –

Rick Williams – @rwilliamsracing – Murray Bridge R2 #2 Holy Juan

Williams Says: “Had every chance second up at Naracoorte when $1.40 favourite and beaten. Has to deal with an awkward barrier draw today and appears to have little upside for a $3.00 favourite.”

Nadia Horne Racing-

Nadia Horne – @NadiaHorne – Murray Bridge R5 #2 Snip Of Magic

Horne Says: “On the quick back up from recording a spoke rating on Saturday. This race appears like it’s going to be run at a far quicker tempo and over the shorter distance he’s likely to settle further back in running with a 3kg apprentice engaged. Alternatively, if pushed forward will be forced to use more energy to hold a prominent position. The race has genuine depth and I have ‘56% of my 85% market’ resting between two other horses in the race.”

Macbet -

John McLeod – @macbetjohn – Eagle Farm – R5 #2 Mark My Word

McLeod Says: “Mark My Word does a few things wrong in his races and as $2.40 favourite here I’m forced to bet around him. A beaten favourite at his last two starts and always seems to find one better which is likely to be the case here again…”

Racetrack Ralphy –

Ralph Horowitz – @rtralphy – Sandown Hillside – R3 #5 Lady Selkirk

Horowitz Says: “Just the seven runners but the market has five chances and rightfully so with nothing in Lady Slekirk’s Profile this time to justify her morning price at around $2.40. Defeated fellow 3YOs twice in the winter on very wet Flemington track over a mile and gets back to that distance today fourth up and presumably rock hard fit, but none of her starts this time stamp her as having progressed as an older horse.

“Had every chance two starts back at Flemington with a tailwind assisting the early speed of that race, and then ‘vanilla plain’ at Caulfield last time in moderate time only when sitting OSL (outside leader) and one paced home (47th best last 800m of the day, 45th best last 600 and 43rd best last 200m. May get a soft lead but the others in the market have much better closing speed so happy to take her on.”
