Pro Lays: Wednesday 17th May 2017

Every week on The Hub, professional punters from across the country will be nominating their LAY of the week.

Get the latest LAY nominations for Wednesday 17th May below.

John McLeod – @macbetjohn – Gold Coast– Race 1 #1 Brigaider Sam

McLeod Says: “Has barrier nine for Tiffani Brooker which is tricky from the 2200m start. He might press forward but is nothing out of the box. He seems under the odds at $4.00 on a day where the track bias will play a big part in determining who can and can’t win”

Queensland Trials –

Chris Nelson – @qldtrials – Gold Coast – Race 1 #2 King Of Monaco

Nelson Says: “Although bred to appreciate today’s longer trip, this locally trained galloper might just need a little more racing to bring out the best in him. He failed to finish off over the mile in albeit a stronger race last and rises sharply to the 2200m today. Extreme outside gate suggests he’ll either work early or give away a decent start. Happy to oppose.”

Punting Form –

Shane Baker – @PuntingForm – Gold Coast – Race 1 #5 Tizabee

Baker Says: “Stretching out in distance to 2200m for the first time, after its last start over 1666m at Ipswich on a Good track, where it ran on from near last. This does not guarantee it will get the staying trip on a Slow rated surface. Getting back in the run is not a typical recipe for success (barrier 8 suggests connects might go back again). It’s only other start on a Slow track resulted in the worst run of its career to date, so that also raises some questions. This is an open maiden race with many lightly raced types getting over the staying trip for the first and as such, we will be happy to take on this clear favourite in the early markets.”

Ratings2Win –

Paul Daily – @PaulD01 – Balaklava – Race 5 #1 Spur On Gold

Daily Says: “Inconsistent horse whose last two outings have produced ratings well below what is required to win this. Couple this with the likelihood of settling worse than midfield makes the current fixed odds of $3.50 a worthy risk.”

Rick Williams Racing –

Rick Williams – @rwilliamsracing – Sale – Race 3 #6 But Its True

Williams Says: “Maps in a tricky position, three pairs back on the fence and doesn’t have the figures to beat a couple who should be in better positions in the run. Looks a good lay at around $4.00.”

Racing Watch –

John Walter – @J_Walter23 – Warwick Farm – Race 2 #1 Emperor’s Way (Place)

Walter Says: “Every possible chance first up in a slowly run race and run down comfortably later after striking the front clearly. Looked weak on the line there and now steps up to city grade. A few nice horses engaged here and he looks tested. Happy to risk. ”

Champion Bets –

Nathan Snow – @snowbet –  Warwick Farm – Race 7 #15 Test The World (Place)

Snow Says: “Had a great run in transit when producing poor figures winning a very ordinary race first up. Gets a soft run again but this is a very hot race and I’m confidence enough to say it won’t run top three.”

Horse Racing Professionals –

Geoff McMurray – @mcmurray_geoff  – Sale – Race 4 #4 Simply Splashing

McMurray Says: “Taking on Simply Splashing at its current quote $2.75. Only win came on a very heavy track when suited swooping down the outside. Drawn inside today and will drift back, meets a decent field and back onto a drier track which looks to be against him.”

racebk –

Ben Krahe – @racebk_com – Geelong Harness – Race 3 #7 Amour De Frere

Krahe Says: “Impressive on debut but moves back to the 10m handicap tonight. Couple that with the fact the main danger and stablemate draws one off the front row means I couldn’t possibly be diving into the long odds on quote here.”

Racetrack Ralphy –

Ralph Horowitz – @rtralphy – Sale – Race 2 #4 Penthouse Poet

Horowitz Says: “Has shown no talent in any of his four career starts and is sub $4.00 in the morning prices. Likely due to his third placing at Sandown last start and admittedly there’s a lot of rubbish in this field. Looking at the Sandown performance it was a well beaten third on a very heavy track in a field of five, where the first two home have since been unplaced. Lynch replaces Dunn which is obviously a statistical negative and it also drops back in trip. Whatever the lack of depth is here, I can’t see him beating the favourite Royal Shame, so will happily make him today’s lay.”
