Pro Lays: Wednesday 17th January 2018

Every week on The Hub, professional punters from across the country will be nominating their LAY of the week.

Get the latest LAY nominations for Wednesday 17th January below.

Winning Edge Investments –

Geoff McMurray – @mcmurray_geoff – Caulfield Race 2 # 3 Lucky Cat

McMurray Says: “Opposing the early favourite. Has no early speed and draws wide so will end up a long way back. Also right up in the weights and did not think it was brilliant through the line latest. Looks a bit short at its current quote.”

Punting Form –

Shane Baker – @PuntingForm – Ipswich Race 2 #3 Johnny Whitesox

Baker Says: “Resuming from a spell over the 1200m at Ipswich. Drawn awkwardly with no real early speed displayed in its races to date. Has had one ordinary trial leading into this under Ron Stewart, who rides one of our preferred runners in this race today. Cannot see any value in Johnny Whitesox as the early favourite, therefore we are opposing it.”

Racing Watch –

John Walter – @J_Walter23 – Warwick Farm Race 3 #2 Akasaki

Walter Says: “Last start failure was blamed on a poor recovery when chasing a tear-away leader over 1200m. Back to 1000m here with pressure from inside and out. Looks to find an awkward position potentially and doubt he will have the turn of foot to match a couple of these late. Happy to be around him at current odds. “

Racing Rant –

Marc Lambourne – @justideal – Warwick Farm Race 5#9 Tahsin

Lambourne Says: “Last start Mudgee Cup winner returning to town with time off and middling metro form, but highly marketable with stylish trial and low-weight/on-pace profile in muddling speed scenario.”

John McLeod – @macbetjohn – Ipswich Race 9 #1 Dreamscope

McLeod Says: “Comes off a last start narrow win at Toowomba and now with an awkward alley. Rising in grade making the $2.70 seem under the odds.”

racebk -

Ben Krahe – @racebk_com – Tamworth Harness Race 1 #1 My Wingman

Krahe says: “Has a terrific record of five wins from 12 starts and likes the track however is first up here for six months and was ‘gassed’ in a recent trial. There is also speed outside it and it has had a driver change. May win, but looks under the odds.”

Ratings2Win -

Paul Daily – @PaulD01 – Away

Dickos Mailbag –

Jack Dickens – @dickosmailbag – Caulfield Race 3 #12 Persian Empire

Dickens Says: “47 days fresh and I’ll be laying him. A poor parade and market drift will only enhance my confidence. 3yo Colt in semi hot stable who is yet to run any decent times. If he has improved lengths, hopefully we can see that in yard but I suspect as a colt they have bigger aims for it than a Wednesday at Caulfield”

Winning Edge Investments –

John Lawson – @Johns_Analytics – Ipswich Race 4 #1 Making Shadows

Lawson Says: “Comes into this race off a three-month break and hasn’t run a place in two first up runs previously. Yet to start longer than $9.00 in his nine runs to date, and has run just the four placings so bookies love him. Should get an OK run from the gate but I expect the 1350m to be a bit short for him today given it doesn’t look a hot speed race and happy to oppose at the current price of $4.60.”

Champion Bets –

Trevor Lawson – @ChampionBetsAU – Caulfield Race 2 #8 Pageantry.

Lawson Says: “Resuming from a spell and was tried over longer trips last preparation. Only win was on debut. Maps back from wide draw on +12m rail position, has a few negatives.”
