LAY (WIN): Race 3 | #8 Zounile
Two very tough heavy track runs leading in and was very plain through the line last start over 1400m. Small field could cause issues as it becomes a very tactical race.

LAY (WIN): Race 5 | #5 Desert Vixen
Soft winner first up but this is much harder today. There looks to 5-6 genuine chances, so the $3.00 currently on offer is too short for mine.

LAY (WIN): Race 4 | #1 Bethencourt
I’m betting around the favourite Bethencourt, so only makes sense to try make a bird on the race and Lay the fave. I query the final 100m with Mach Schnell and Get The Idea both coming late.

LAY (WIN): Race 8 | #7 Deep Finesse
Impressive in a non-event last start and now gets James McDonald. Let’s see how he handles a contest here.

LAY (WIN): Race 5 | #9 In Her Stride
Won narrowly 1st up in Mildura. Goes from 1000m to 1200m second-up, which is never a positive. Happy to oppose on that basis.

LAY (WIN): Race 5 | #1 Never Paid
Never Paid got tired in a recent trial but the real issue is that he can be slow away. So from the bad gate it looks very tough for him if he has to work around them to get in. MacBet Price $11.00.

LAY (WIN): Race 1 | #5 Maatsuyker
Very short favourite at the time of writing. Going OK this prep with a couple of placings and reasonable ratings, but nothing to suggest he should be this price. Top rater, sure, but not odds on for me so happy to oppose.

LAY (WIN): Race 2 | #5 Democracy Manifest
Scratchings have thinned things out a bit, but is now into odds on which is too short in my opinion when there are at least 3 legitimate dangers. Opposing at the skinny odds. Won well resuming here on Heavy9, but “jury’s out” on what it beat to be an odds chance today.

Was a costly horse for punters on a few occasions last prep and while she’s found a pretty plain race first-up, she’s still short of her very best trip and short enough to oppose.
